|
|
Thursday some friends brought me a watermelon. And it was not one of those 5,000 won small ones. it was a BIG one.
Anyone have any recipies for it other then eating it as is?
I have made slushies. I have cut some in cubes and put them in a big jar covered with soju. I am eating it as is. I put some in a salad.
Any ideas? |

Good idea but they live 3 hrs away. I will bring some to work Monday. I just want to know if anyone has any ideas how to use it in any recipie.
And yes, sharing it is one of the good ideas. |

make a fruit salad (along with other fruit) and you can keep it in the fridge for a few days.
maybe try a smoothie (watermelon, ice, milk).
i can't think of too many things to do with a watermelon... i guess the best is to eat it on its own. |

You can make watermelon juice. How about watermelon wine? I am sure that can be done. |

Stand a watermellon virtically. Punch or cut a hole in the top about the diameter of the lip of a vodka bottle. Open said vodka bottle, inserting the end into the holein the watermellon. Let sit overnight until bottle is drained. Cut and serve. |

Back home we used to make frozen watermelon daiquiries....delicious!
Or cut it into biggish pieces, push a sate stick (or equivelent) into each piece & freeze for homemade ice blocks.
You can also make sorbet. Here's an awesome looking recipe for an alcoholic version, but it's just as good sans alcohol:

Yeah, done the Everclear routine and it wasn't enjoyable. Grain alcohol is a really bad drunk... And it just burns going down. Stick with a quality vodka unless you're a masocist. |

Damn, Everclear.....I haven't thought about that rocket fuel forever. That stuff is insane. Three gutterballs were mixing that with slurpies on the way back from Reno one time, passed out and then destroyed my ride by lurching in the back seat.
However, I back the Everclear in the watermelon....or 151. |

Buy a box of fried chicken.
Nothing says Summer in the South without fried chicken and watermelon. Delicious. My favorite is Golden Skillet chicken, but the closest one here is probably 5000 miles. |

Well, I still have watermellon. I do love it. I cut some up, mixed it with balsamic vinegar, sliced tomatoes, sliced onions and sliced cucumbers, and that was terrific.
I cut it up, added ice and yogurt, and blended it up for a smoothie.
I have really began to love watermel;lon. |
