whats the situation at your school? Mine have air con but the director moans about the prices for electric. Its always on when parents are here, but otherwise they have it switched off.
im from belfast, therefore im not used to this heat, this morning it was over 30 degrees and the first class refused to put it on, the 2nd class had a tiff when i turned it on and switched it off, i went mad as listening to 20plus screaming 5 year olds in that heat was making me feel sick and i was feeling faint so i shouted either air conditioing on or no class. saw red like, but being expected to teach in a 30degrees plus classroom so they can save a few bob on electric is pathetic. |

In a hogwon here, the director and all the Korean teachers have been going aircon crazy, if I go into thier classrooms I feel cold, they have it colder than it is in the winter......
I've even printed out the new government guide lines that will be introduced soon that want people to only have the aircon set at 26.
I'm lucky that I have a really big classroom with huge windows....I've only turned the aircon on twice so far this summer and that was becasue of the humidity not the heat..... |

| I have a great VP. I found the aircon in my classroom wasn't working properly when I first tried it a couple of weeks ago. I told the VP, and when I came in on the following Monday morning there was a brand new aircon unit on the wall. Turned it on, only to find it was leaking water all over the floor. Told the VP, and the same morning some guy came in and sorted it out. I'm especially happy about the aircon today because it's a horribly sticky, hot day. |

In public schools, usually only the teachers room and accounting office are the only air conditioned places. One classroom such as a science room may have air conditioning and they take turns using it. It's my favorite classroom right now too.
Really, it's not too bad as it's not as hot of a climate as home, but it does get hot when standing outside for a bus. |

We have A/C in all the classrooms...and today it finally got switched on...finally after the kids were practically collapsing from heat stroke. |

| Public school and we finally got the OK to turn on the AC but we have to keep at 27 to save electricity o.O I had mine on 19 since I'm in the computer room. I had a class in one of the kids homeroom and they had theirs on 27...after 30 mins they asked me to turn it off cuz they were getting cold. Whats up with that? I was still sweating. |

| When I first started my classroom didn't have AC, but as soon as the weather started to get hot my school has an AC installed. I can't imagine living without one. It just gets way too hot. But it seems like it's a constant battle between it being too cold with the AC on and too hot with it turned down. But all things considered I think I would rather have it a little chilly than suffer through this awful heat. |

Get the kids to complain to their parents. Thats what I did, within a week of me telling all my students to complain to their parents the ac was on (3 weeks ago) probably coincidence, but i refuse to believe it |

| Only the teachers room has air con at my school - the classrooms have fans, half of which are broken. I used to hang around the classroom talking to the students & teachers in the 10 minute interval between classes, now I rush down to my desk in the teachers room for a few minutes of cool sweat-free bliss. |

my principal is too tight to put air con in the classes, the poor kids sweat, its awful in a stuffy class of 40 with 4 tiny fans circulating hot air.
Only the teachers room has 1 air con unit. |

Yeah, we've got air conditioning. In every classroom. So why do they have to still let the kids go home early on account of the heat??? Isn't that what the air conditioning is for?
Oh, and the air conditioning in my room doesn't work, of course.
Have you noticed the air conditioning is not getting turned on in the buses, either. And Lotte was quite warm, and starting to smell like a gym.
While we're on the subject, I just want to say, God bless Willis Carrier. |
