Not so much a rant, but just some observations of a place I rarely go. First, how important is it to a business who caters mainly to English speakers to have wait-staff who speak the language? I ordered a meal there and when trying to specify a simple concept to the waitress in slowed-down English, she gave me nowt but a blank look. Needless to say my eggs were not cooked as requested. In fact, they looked like they had been cooked by someone who hadn't done the job that long. If you are paying top-dollar for a meal, is it too much to ask to have it cooked to order?

Second, is customer care even on your radar? Two English Teacher-looking 20-somethings who looked like they had been on an all-night bender were asleep on each other at the bar, her crashed out in her BF's lap, him drooling on his missus. Upon waking up, they crashed to the floor from the high stools and he was so legless he had to be helped up a number of times. He was allowed to continue sleeping, head down on a table while she was served another beer. I'm no wowser and like to get drunk myself, but when you fall asleep in a bar and cannot maintain basic motor function, it's time to go. Other patrons don't want to have to deal with the possibility of collateral damage.

Not saying I wouldn't go back, but jaysus, buck up your act, Wolfhound.

No they don't, and maybe I do. I guess it's because I have a long history working in pubs and expect standards of places I go to.

hey James, the OP is making a legitimate comment on the Wolfhound's service, so why don't you can your "Dawson Creek Cry"?

the service there does indeed suck. Messed up my order (after I POINTED to the menu) and then took an additional 30 minutes to correct the mistake. Slow, overrated food with the usual "we don't need your business" mentality that many establishments in Itaewon seem to hold. All these places would be out of business back in the world where people have more options. Here we're expected to put up with the nonsense.

my money goes to the places that actually care about their customers and provide good service. those are places people return to.

No offense taken here, was expecting a few of those anyhow. It was also the reason I prefaced my comments with the phrase "not a rant".

The waitress in question is the one that looks like an, ahem, ladyboy. I've never had problems ordering food as I like it in other pubs around there, Hollywoods, 3A etc, but have noticed the uncommunicative nature of the staff at WH before. We even had to call them over from their little scrum at the bar to deliver the condiment basket this time. Little things like this make a difference, at least to me and hope that someone there reads this and has a chat to the staff.

THe Wolfhound is crap, it is as simple as that. There is nothing Irish about the place, the staff are useless, the beer tastes really off and the food is incredibly inconsistant.

If the service is that terrible (and I agree, it sounds terrible), why would you go back? What kind of food do they serve that you're forced to continue going back to a shittty restaurant?

Is this the same place that someone recommended as having one of the best burgers in Itaewon?

Yeah. Not to sure what all that was about. The one I had tasted like a hockey puck between two pieces of mdf.

Their careless approach to doing business is something that I noticed at Geckos starting in Summer of 2003 where I had to ask wait staff to take my food or order even though I was sitting at the bar. They were even worse to me when I was at a table. Once, I asked three waiters for a menu and was told to wait a minute in a place that had me as its only potential customer. After 30 minutes, I walked out and have not been back in there since then. I take my business to Hollywood Bar and Grill.

Terrible service. I'm always amazed by the lack of pen and paper when they come over to take the order. If their grasp of English is so bad something to write the order down on would be a bonus. The way to voice displeasure is with your feet. Don't go!

I went there for the first time on saturday. I saw the passed out dude, I guess his girlfriend hadnt joined him yet or had already left. Or it was a totally different person.

I was pretty satisfied. Food was good. service unremarkable. beer tasty.

Is there anywhere better for familiar food and foreign beer?
