I'd really like to find out how true the rumour is that the last months pay (1.9 + severence = 3800000) may be taxed up to 40%!!!! because the pay reaches a high tax bracket.
Please can you clarify this for those of your that recently completed a 1 year contract.
Cheers |

Go to the EPIK site on the Net and you will see that they say that the tax rate difference is 2% to 4% for Canadians depending on wage level. Their wages go from about 1.7 to 2.3 a month plus severance. Any major city here also has a tax office. So take a Korean friend along and ask. |

I've heard on here that it's not legitimate, but, aside from that point, what happens is that your employer condenses the two payments together, which bumps it up into the next tax bracket, and you lose a chunk to taxes.
The real story behind this I wouldn't know. |

Yikes. That didn't happen to me last summer when I completed my contract. My boss deducted the same amount from my bonus as she had from my regular monthly paycheck. Sounds like an attempt to rip you off. |
