I am flying to bangkok on July 30th. My family will be flying in the next day, so I need to find a place to stay for my first night before they arrive.
Does anyone have a recomendation on a cool hostel to stay in for one night?
...sorry if all you travel forum badasses are super pissed about bangkok related questions, but I could certainly use some advice. any thoughts are greatly appreciated from one korean english teacher to another. |

| Soi Rambuttri right next to Khao San Road has the majority of cheap hostel like guesthouses. Many as cheap at $6 a night and actually serve delicious Thai food for about $2 to $4 a meal. |

No, but you can do much better leaving Bangkok and going other places where you get a bungalow hut instead of a hot fan room in a Bangkok building where the fan may not work. I spent little time in my rooms as Thailand is an awesome place! I didn't get ripped off or robbed in 2 1/2 months of traveling SE Asia, but I wouldn't leave an IPOD, money, and computer laying around nor leave my door unlocked when in the communal shower or out on the town.
I think the Thai deliver quite well at good prices wherever you go in Thailand. After having been in Korea for a year where vegetable sellers at a 5 day market often won't go down 1000 lousy won on an over priced 5000 won apple, the Thai welcome bargaining and are generally more accommodating, friendlier, and have lots to offer. Great bargains can be had, but room and cooked meals are at fixed prices like anywhere else, but prices are already decent for decent service anyhow. |

| I was just being facetious; I usually grab stuff off the foodstalls which cost in the range of 25-30 baht. Problem is 20 mins later youre hungry again. |
