I need to remove my hard drives (2) from my desktop ASAP.
I know it's probably easy to do myself but I am more than happy to pay someone to do it for me.

How much should it cost at somewhere like Yongsan or Technomart?

I had a quote of 20-30k from one computer shop but that sounds too expensive.

I want to get this sorted today so I'd really appreciate some advice

If you have a screwdriver you can do it yourself.

Unplug the computer
take the side off
pull the cables from the back of the harddrive (firm pressure and be carfeful they don't suddenly release and your hand jerks into the motherboard)
unscrew the harddrives from the side
slide the harddrive out
easy as pie

(a note to be careful of. I once had a computer where they had screwed in the back screws and so had to remove everything MB and all)

assuming I could borrow a screwdriver or find something appropriate that might be an option, but could there be any issues with static or anything?
Or is that more for motherboards and whatnot.

Also, if I could get them out, how should I store them in my luggage?

Still like to know roughly how much to pay if I get someone else to do it as well.

You really don't need anyone else to do it. It's so easy.

Open both side-panels of the case.
Pull out all the cables from the back of the hard drives.
Unscrew any little screws holding in the hard drives.
Pull out the hard drives.


You really don't need to worry about static unless you're working on a carpet. Also, the high humidity of summer cuts down static a lot.

You can pack them in some bubble wrap or even just clothes. They aren't as fragile as you think.
