I know most Koreans are based in Auckland and Christchurch, but have you met many Koreans living in other locations in NZ? There are a few K families in Blenheim now and also Nelson, how about Wellington, Dunedin, Invercargill etc?

I'm going home in 5 weeks and would be keen to meet up with Koreans in NZ if I have the chance.

Strange enough Koreans run Japanese food places. In Hamilton in Garden place there's a sushi place run by Koreans and when i was home in Feb was in Devenport, North Shore and hungry trying to find vegan food and went to a sushi place.
Again run by Koreans because I recognised when she called out "no cucumber" in Korean to the chef. They were happy to talk to me when I said I lived in Seoul.

When I was a student in Dunedin I noticed that the majority of sushi places in town were run by Koreans. And there's quite a few sushi places down there per head too. I have to say though, the sushi was pretty average... Crying or Very sad

there's also a Korean language Church not too far from the University Library there. I think Southern Boy already brought that up.

First Koreans I met in NZ were the family that shifted to Hokitika from Korea back in 1984 or so!

Chatted to some who own stores in Christchurch.

I grew up in Nelson and Wellington, and before coming here I'd only met one Korean in my life, while I was studying at Vic.

I'd never so much as seen one let alone meeting any, before arriving here, but then I'm from near Gore... Smile

Well, that was five years ago, so things might have changed. There may be some students at secondary schools or something, but as for whole families, I haven't heard anything (courtesy of my Mum's grapevine).
Apparently quite a few other immigrants though, from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ukraine, Romania, etc, plus the more usual Scotland/UK.
Even some North Islanders, what is the world coming to?

Met quite a few in queenstown, there is even a couple of korean restaurants

Only a couple lived there tho
