Chinese fire drill - stopping a loaded car at some random place, and everyone gets out and finds a new seat--real fast.
Riding shotgun - in the passenger seat up front. "I call shotgun", gets that seat first.
Dibbs - Gets first choice. "I get dibbs on shotgun."
Cinchy - easy. "That's a cinch." "That's too cinchy." |

I'm from L.A. For that you can just watch the Big Lebowski.
There was a comic who had a great bit about the many meanings the word dude. Dude! Dude? Hehe dude! etc.
One thing I think that started in my area was "neighbah!" as in neighbor. Just meaning what's up bro. I don't know if that still exists. I'm old. |

I think it's just slang meaning different stuff to different people... cuz to me getting jacked means getting knocked over really hard.
Like getting trucked.

CAUTION: PETSTORY ALERT
I worked with a kid once that must have said, "Dude!", a couple hundred times a day. Real talker, outgoing personality from California. He was an LDS foster care runaway that got old enough to join the Navy and really get the hell away.
Anyhow, I got to my next duty station and this little dog shows up from off the street. Island Dog, I thought I'd call him. But no, the name that stuck turned out to be Dude.
Dude lived to be 17-18 years old (depending how old he was when he found us), was half blind with cataracts and stone cold deaf. But his sense of smell got him killed when he found some road kill one morning and a passing vehicle did him in. 
The saddest part of this story is that I had seen the dead carcus in front of my neighbor's house the day before, pulling in from work and left it there, hadn't done anything about it.   |

The poster mentioned slang from the Northeastern U.S. and as far as this New Yorker is concerned, jacked (loads of different meanings � also, �You don�t know jack� = You don�t know sh*t) and gypped can be synonymous but japped? Sounds like something that happens to Long Island chicks upon reaching puberty. |

Sweet as- good, nice.
Tinny/foil- a gram or so of weed wrapped in tinfoil.
Wag- to be truant from school.
Chur bro(in a deep voice)- a variation of cheers.
Dak- weed.
Fulla- guy.
Westie- White-trash or West-Aucklander
Durries- cigarettes.
JAFA- Just Another 'Fantastic' Aucklander
Hoon- like hooligan.
Shot bro- like cheers.
A typical 'westie hoon' conversation:
A: Hey bro, wanna wag school and have a sesh?
B: Shot bro, you got some dak?
A: Yeah bro, I scabbed a tinny off my cuz, he just got an OZ.
