I was told by washington state police that korea might do fingerprints differently than the US and that they might not be acceptable for a US background check. Has anyone had a problem with this?

I want to get them done at a korean station on their fingerprint cards.

The site search engine didnt turn up any results for this. Sad

I honestly can't speak about Korea. However, I was told the same information about Thailand from Maryland. I thought they might screw it up (highly probable in this country), so I opted for two sets of prints. I also wanted to be safe in case one got smudged in the mail. I had a family member send me the cards from the states. I used them; although, the Thai police looked a bit confused as to why I would not use the Thai card. I did take a look at the Thai card which was virtually identical without English writing. At the end of the day, both sets of prints were accepted. So, I would imagine if they can get it right here, they should be able to get it right in Korea.

I sent fingerprints to the Canadian RCMP that were taken by Korean police. The fingerprint form was in Korean, but I translated left, right, index, thumb, etc on the form.

After 3.5 months, just got my check in the mail. So, they should take 'em.

One of these links has instructions on how to get fingerprints done at the US army base in Seoul, and it's free for US citizens.

What do you mean, you got a cheque in the mail? For what?

No, you don't have to get your fingerprints taken.

Some agencies (such as the FBI and some U.S. states) require fingerprints to obtain a background check. Others don't.

Korean Immigration does not require a fingerprint-based background check. A "name search" check is sufficient.

Where did you get out of all this that "we have to get our fingerprints taken?"

I printed the form from the FBI website and had my fingerprints done at a Korean police station. There were no problems with the Texas DPS.

Excuse me for thinking he meant cheque and was using the U.S. spelling. That's a long time to wait.
