I am in Korea, looking to change location. Is it possible to change location without a CRC?

Also, does CRC stand for Criminal Record Check?

If I have to get a CRC, then is it possible to get one before September 5? If so, how do I do that?

Yes, CRC stands for criminal record check. It is also variously referred to as a CBC (criminal background check), criminal check, background check, etc.

Yes, you will need to provide one to Korean Immigration if you are trying to change workplaces unless you already provided one when you obtained your visa. If you (or, more likely, your employer or recruiter) initially applied for your visa after 2007.12.15, you would have been required to submit a CRC as part of the visa paperwork.

As for whether you can get one by September 5, no answer is really possible without knowing more details. Specifically, where are you from? Immi will accept a federal, state, provincial, or local background check. A federal check will almost certainly take longer than 1 month to get here. On the other hand, you might be able to have one in the mail tomorrow with a phone call to your local cop shop back home. Local's usually fastest, so that's the first place to start looking.

I think you read my question wrong, but I get what you were trying to say.

The second answer I think is, NO, you need to get the CRC unless you can show you already had one.

Oops, I guess I did.

But I think you asked a question that's been answered about six hundred times on this board in the past couple months... so I guess we're even. Laughing
