Here's another one on the airfare issue, but mine is a bit different.

Schools pay the NT's one-way ticket to Korea, and then after the completion of a full year, one way back home, correct?

I am almost finished with my year, and signed on to do an extra six months (no full second year because of grad school). But I told my co-teach I may cut it down to 4 or 5 months. She told me if I do so, I will not recieve my airfare to go back home.

Basically, after I finish one year I receive payment equal to a one-way flight back. Then I'm signed on to work another 6 months. But if I quit before those six months, I have to give back that airfare money.

This doesn't make sense to me. Aren't I supposed to get the one-way home airfare anyway for completing one year anyway? So what does it matter the length of my extension? Co-teacher seems to think that the extra renewal changes the terms of the contract.

I'm also on an F-4, in case that matters.

Hopefully my explanation of my problem is clear, and someone who knows about this situation can help me out.

Cheers.

What do u want, two tickets home? Unless you renew for a full year they can take all the benefits you'd get for a full year renewal as it won't be a full year.

No, let me make it more clear: I will get NO ticket home at all. Not one for finishing my year contract, nothing.

Thats what the co-teach says, If I cut my teaching short of the full 6 months extension.

Bullshit...tell her you're leaving after your 1 year and be done with it. Get your return ticket. If you're staying on for more time because you want to or need to then they kinda have you over the barrel. In other words they can/will screw around w/ you. Try to negotiate a return ticket home open for 6 months and get the ticket in hand now before you begin your extra months. You are entitled to a return ticket home. If I were you I'd buy the open fare ticket yourself and give the school the receipt.
