Has anyone successfully used KT WiBro with their Mac?

I can't navigate Korean webspace well, but found this blog on the topic - from what I can tell, it's not possible to use it with MacOS..

The WiBro service is great, just wish I could use it on a Macbook! Confused

OS X big problems.

I have WiBro and the little install CD says XP, Vista quite clearly.

What do you mean, Mac no problems?

I know it works with Windows and even Windows on a Mac, but how about OSX? I was hoping they'd release Mac drivers for the WiBro USB key I have, but doesn't seem they're very interested in supporting anything other than Windows.

The Intel based Macs can have both WIndows and OSX. So, Macs don't have the problem with WiBro, its OSX.

I thought OSX had VMWare-type software to emulate a windows environment. Or is that only Linux with Wine?

Macs can run Windows within OSX like you mentioned, as the video in the link shows, but I want to use WiBro natively from OSX..

Without internet, OSX would be useless to me. May have to just use a Macbook with only Windows.. Smile

If you've got it setup through Windows, go inside the network connections setup and see what the WiBro program setup and how (i.e. network settings, dns, what kind of connection/protocol, etc). I hope you get it figured out. If not just run a small virtual machine in OS X and run it in Unity mode with Fusion/Parallels.

Given the topic of this thread, that's kind of ironic.

To the OP. Try a generic WiMax driver if you can find one. It may work.

It's possible. I set up a friend's wibro on my macbook a few months ago just for kicks and I got the internet running on os x. You need parallels or vmware and you need to download and install the wibro app/drivers. Also, you have to tweak the network settings ("host-only" on parallels, I think). That's all I can remember. I'll try to dig up something on naver when I have time.

As for me, I can't stomach the thought of leaving xp running so until kt releases os x drivers I won't bother. Too bad; it's a nice service. Good speed and cheap.

Ah so it has been done!

Is running parallels/vmware in the background demanding on the computers resources? If you find out what settings to use that would be great.
