I don't mean I want to run away from my job or from Korea...I just want to run!

Does anyone know, or know how I can find out, will any cities in South Korea be hosting marathons or half-marathons this year, and if so, when?

Does anyone know of any good places to run in Incheon?

Incheon grand national park is a good place to run...and there are in fact a few marathons that go on that you can participate in...one of my adult students is quite the athelete and she's always egging me to go running with her in one of these things...if you want, i'll keep you posted as to when they pop up.

No, I'm not running away, ha ha! I just want to put one foot in front of the other, quickly......

Tancred if you do find out the dates and locations of any races it would be wonderful if you could let me know - it is better to know about them a few months ahead of time so you can follow a training schedule.

Is there anyone else out there who wants to run??????

There's going to be a marathon in Seoul soon, along the Han River I think. I had a pamphlet for it but I threw it away. Ring the KNTO in Seoul and ask them about it. They should have some information. It was supposed with be within the next six months.

Look at the Cheju website...or ask a Korean friend about marathons in Cheju. A few year ago they hosted a marathon and half marathon that went around the perimeter of the island there. It may even be an annual event.

There is a mesaure track behind Lotte World ... around the lakes if that is helpful to anyone.

It is also that sponge like tarmac so it is easy on the knees.

It is. I think 3.5 km for the full circuit.

I love running too- was a top cross country runner at school and generally have been jogging in my spare time ever since. Except, for seoul. Breathing in traffic fumes at an accelerated pace just doesn't turn me on. there are so few large open areas of park to train or practice in- the nearest vaguely healthy course for me would be Namsan park- a dawdling train ride away, and beset by hordes of people or cars in the way anyway...
I think i'm probably at my most unhealthiest ever right now.

Since I posted this question almost a year ago (?!?!?!) I have done most of my running in Central Park in Bucheon, where there is also a sponge-like tarmac measured track (1.6 km). It's a short bus ride from Songnae station (and a short bike ride from my apartment).

I agree that running in the city here is pretty gross, although Central Park is in a nicer, quieter area of Bucheon and isn't so terrible. I tried running around the track in the park near Bupyung station once and it was not fun. And today I walked up a mountain down the road from my apartment and when I came back down the change in the air totally grossed me out.

Thanks Shincheon_Blues for posting those marathon links. The farthest I ran this year was the 1/4 marathon for foreigners in Seoul in May Embarassed oh well, maybe next year.....

There's a Central Park in Bucheon? with a track? WOW! I arrived here in Bucheon nearly a week ago (was to be working somewhere else, but there was a snag...), and I've been exploring, but haven't found any good places to run---thanks, half_pint!

Thanks again, half_pint! The track is fine and bouncy. Also, I like how I run faster than most people there Twisted Evil
