Hmm...just stumbled across this 'cafe', left a bad taste in my mouth. Got me thinking about whether there are laws in Korea against hate propaganda or not. There are a few bad words in there. Tch, tch, tch...

It's pretty much a collection of stories and newspaper articles about why foreign workers are bad and how to get rid of illegal migrants. Also a few sections about Pakistani 'beasts' that take Korean women away; that was the part that got to me.

No, nothing surprising there. What I had wondered about more than anything is whether it's legal to have such a site up on Daum/Hanmail. All the cafes I've seen up to now have been about light subjects like music/fan sites/travel, etc.

Well, I noticed it has ties to a site called "antiwomen" and some other odd links so I'm getting a feeling here that these are a couple of nutcases at work, nothing bigger than that. I have a feeling the KKK isn't about to be eclipsed by these clowns.

Many Migrant Workers' Children Cannot Go to Hospitals, Schools
More than 60 percent of migrant workers find it difficult to send their children to hospitals when they are sick, according to a report by the National Human Rights Commission released on Wednesday.

According to the report, foreign children face various forms of prejudice and discrimination by teachers and students upon entering school.

More than 50 percent replied that they had experienced discrimination while attending school, while another 30 percent said they had been bullied by Korean students.

More Crimes Committed by Migrant Workers
Crimes committed by foreign workers who have overstayed their visa have sharply increased, the National Police Agency (NPA) said on Wednesday. Migrant workers were found to have engaged in such crimes as robbery, sexual assault and homicide after losing their jobs.

Justin Ekenedilichukwu, a Nigerian worker, was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of murdering a female Korean shop owner in Itaewon. He said he committed the crime to pay for living costs after the employer of a plant where he worked fired him due to the crackdown.

An ethnic Korean-Chinese woman, identified as Ahn, was arrested Dec. 11 on suspicion of counterfeiting registration cards and selling them to other Korean-Chinese workers who overstayed their visas.

Did the murder of the Itaewon female shop owner happen recently? I don't think I've heard of that one! I believe it, just want to learn more.

On Dec. 6, a 29-year-old woman, the owner of a store located down the alley from the Underground Market that sold clothes to African traders, was killed during a robbery. Last week, police arrested and charged with the murder a Nigerian man who'd been working in factories here for about a year. Evidently they caught him after tracing the trail of checks he allegedly stole from the victim, then spent.

Now, Itaewon gets a murder about every year or two. But according to the latest data, Korea averages one murder every nine hours. Statistics show, then, that Itaewon is safer than the whole country.

Pretty sure you can dig up stats that migrant workers in every country commit a fair amount of crime.

Remember during World Cup 2002 one of the players from one of the African nation teams was caught shop lifting...I mean that definetly says something.

One worker, from Bangladesh, drew a scene in crayon where a Korean yells, according to the Bangladeshi, "Shika palipali ill hay," or "You b_stard, work faster!" but he nevertheless feels he has to answer "Yes, Sir."

Another foreign worker drew a picture depicting the time he was asleep when a Korean worker came in drunk and broke company windows, threw various objects and hit him.

The center's general secretary, Kim Jae-geun, said the drawing session was organized "to give sit-in participants the opportunity to express, in drawings, their feelings at being chased by the law and what they remember most about their time in Korea."

"It's sad that the drawings portray Koreans as being people who ignore suffering and are egotistical," said Kim.
