|
|
I've recently taken an interest in singing as a hobby, and I was wondering if it's possible while having a full-time teaching job? I struggle with my voice teaching 4 40 minute classes as it is, and I can't imagine that singing on the side will be doable in the long run.
But if so, how do you do it? And how often do you practice? |

You can sometimes join choir groups at some of the foreigner-friendly churches, if you don't mind religion. I sang on a worship team (contemporary) for the two years I was in Korea, as well as the holiday choirs. Don't know if that helps...

Thanks for the input! Were you able to do this while teaching on the side as well? |

Yup.
Rehearsals were always on Saturday night (not too late though), but as I am not a heavy drinker, I didn't mind. As a bonus, there was always delicious Korean fast food during the breaks , and most of the group was young and fun to be around.
If you are interested, I can PM you more details. |

I sing about twice a month when I get dragged to a noraebang after a night of drinking with Korean friends. |

Just make sure whatever you are doing is not in a "paid" status because it is considered outside your status as a teacher. Church related stuff is good because they can't gig you for participating in religion. |

I sing (and play guitar, at home) about four days a week for about an hour a night, in addition to noraebang two or three times a month. Singing is actually not as hard on your voice as talking! |

you could always buy a microphone for class so your voice doesn't get too strained |
