Finishing up my first week back. Students are still in summer mode, so not really interested in full time study at this point. Give them a couple of weeks and they will get back on track. It was a good break from school (Technical High School) and actually going to be a good semester. The principal, vice principal and support staff here are very good to the English department in spite of some of the other department heads who commonly tell students they don't have to participate in the English classes because it isn't important for their overall learning goals.

Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see how the new co-teacher adjusts. I am losing my co-teacher after 3 years of work together. The MOE decided in their own wisdom to transfer my co-teacher out to another school in September rather than waiting until March when the school year is completed. I am getting a brand new teacher fresh out of university, oh joy. This marks the fourth co-teacher I have had to train into the system.

Sounds like you have a good system going on despite the loss of co-teachers. Be gentle with the newbie Very Happy

Tomorrow is the first day of classes, but yesterday and today the teachers are doing half days. I guess we have to practise being at school again.

We started today. I kind of like being back to the regular schedule where I can get a couple months of real teaching in before mid-terms / school events / end of term stuff disrupts everything.

Wicked avatar Draz
We start back on Monday 25th, a week earlier than other unis. Like Yu Bum Suk, I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of a new semester. My job is not too arduous, I like my collegues and I enjoy the structure of a regular schedule - especially when it is as sweet as the ones they dish out here. It's all good!

I'm not too sad about the end of vacation. I've had a month off and I feel ready to go back and teach. Plus I have a week off in October I was told due to high school mid-terms. I start teaching Monday again.
