I guess I never really paid much attention before, but after seeing it on tv tonight, I realize that taekwondo is the most useless martial art, no sport, ever invented. Should just be renamed armpit kicking. How are you supposed to defend yourself with that? |

Its only a recent addition to the olympics. The judging is often skewed in favor of the Koreans in my view.
Without it koreans would be way down the medal table at the olympics of 2004 & 2000. |

I'm still trying to understand how Canada justify Curling in the winter games. It should at least be given it's REAL name- Ice Shuffleboard. |

as opposed to shotput? what about butterfly? relay? weightlifting? what sport is useful. In fact what martial art is useful? The taekwondo you see on tv is the one which was adapted from the original form as a sport. You can still find the original form if you search
Why do people keep blasting it so much? It's just a sport. Do people say the same about judo or wrestling (no punching or kicking allowed) and boxing (no kicking). |

The failed implementation of a martial art is a failure of the artist, not the art. |

I guess the Op feels let down because it is a 'fighting sport' yet there doesn't really seem to be much fighting but whistle blowing and very controlled conditions.
You could watch the unrehearsed, caught-on-camera street fights on Youtube if you want to see the real deals. But then, you see sick reality along with some quite sick-in-the-head people.
Sometimes tame is better for your own headspace. |

While it ain't my favorite, it's definitely more worthy of an Olympic spot than Synchro swimming, Archery, Shooting, and Rhythmic Gymnastics. |

Were you wearing your dress? If we fight, I'll make you wear a dress.
Actually isn't that what you taekwondo girls wear anyway? A white dress and pantyhose? |

How about the Korean man who kicked the Dutch guy in the balls? Anyone see that? He kicked him pretty hard and he still won. How? |
