In case anyone's interested, I found a great deal for Wibro/Nespot with KT. The Wibro is connected constantly and available all over Seoul, and Nespot at certain locations like coffee shops. Costs about 20,000 a month.. anyone else using this service?
The great thing is, I can use the USB dongle as my main connection at home and for traveling with my laptop (as well as the option of WiFi Nespot too!)..

The speed of the Wibro service is fine, downloading speeds range from 50-250kbytes/sec.

I just got the WiBro service. You can try it for 2 weeks and cancel if you don't like it.

So far, I like the fact that I can access the internet pretty much anywhere in Seoul. I'm on the 10th floor of an OfficeTel and the signal is at about 50%. Still much better than constantly trying to connect to other people's wifi where the signal is low at best.

I'm not a big fan of the 30gb limit. The KT guy I spoke to couldn't tell me whether or not it is just 30gb download, or if it is both download and upload.

Happy with it so far. We'll see how it goes after a week of use.

Maybe it's just me or my UMPC, but I find that I get disconected repeatedly while in the subway. Usually at least a couple of times per trip. Never at home, though I rarely use it at home; I have a wireless router, which is superior.

The speed is fine, and I do get decent connections while stationary in buildings. There are a few places in Seoul where it doesn't work, though. For some reason I just can't connect while in LG twin towers. It can find the server but can't sync up.

I'd recommend it, but not as your main Internet connection for heavy users or gamers or downloaders. As a backup it's good, especially if you're on the go all day. It's also great for those who have light Internet needs, and those who have difficulties getting a boss or Korean friend to sign a ISP contract. (No problems for foreigners to get Wibro, maybe due to the lack of marginal costs.)

I've been considering trying wibro for some time. I have been a Nespot user for a couple of years and find it helpful as I spend a lot of time in coffee shops. It took a couple of weeks and numerous phone calls to setup Nespot with my MAC, but eventually they got it working. It works fine with my XP/IE HP machine...

I have a new eeePC that has the Linux Xandros operating system... I'm wondering if anyone uses Nespot or Wibro wwith Linux? What did you have to do to get it setup?

The combined WiBro/Nespot coverage is 20,000 won per month? Seems like that's what I pay for Nespot service without Wibro. Also, what is the cost of the dangle? When I checked last year, they were around 250,000 won.

AFAIK Wibro has xp/Vista drivers only.
