I know this is probably essentially inconsequential but some health problems of mine have gotten a little worse and I am thinking of walking out on my contract. Right now I have had the contract signed and returned by the board in Korea, and now am only in need of getting the E2 Visa.

It's really a case of bad timing, and the consequences will probably have no effect on my decision to walk out on the contract, but I am curious as to the effect I will be causing my school and my recruiter if I do choose to do this? Will it be long before they find a replacement, am I going to be a significant burden? I haven't yet purchased my flight.

Cheers

The school and/or recruiter might be a bit peeved because they have to find someone else but that will have absolutely no bearing on you. You have to look after your health first. Just explain to the recruiter that it's a health problem (you don't have to say what the problem actually is) and that you can't go anymore. No problem.

Either that, or just tell them flat out you've changed your mind with no explanation. They can't come to your hometown and force you on the plane. And, in case you were wondering, if you do it before your E-2 visa is issued it should have absolutely no impact on any future applications.

Suwon, Sannam middle school, I haven't yet declined the job but it is looking more and more likely.

You may want to remove the name of the school from your post...some recruiters do pass the time browsing this site and it has caused people problems in the past.

Well, you need to decide now what you're going to do. If you're really staying home, call or email the recruiter asap. As long as you've not submitted the visa application number, you'll be fine. Better luck next time.

People change their minds all the time. There's no law against that. I say this because the recruiter may tug pretty hard on you to try to get you over here and you'll have to remind him/her of that fact.

Good luck.
