What exactly does a reviewer of a textbook do? I bring this up because my school changed to Bricks Reading books, and I found them shockingly bad. Not only are they littered with errors but, in my opinion, the stories are very poorly written(mostly in passive voice, short choppy sentences)...
Anyways, back to the question, Andrew Finch PhD reviewed the textbook. I find it shocking that he wouldn't have picked up on any of the errors (if that is indeed the job of a reviewer). I recently taught his Active English Discussion textbook(he wrote it), and I found it to be excellent. One of the better books I've come across here in Korea.
I like the tagline for Bricks Reading - Written by native English speaker teachers who have worked for primary schools... er, just because they speak English doesn't mean they can write well. |
