I am not sure if I need a new computer or not. I cannot boot my computer. I have lots of important information on it. I don't want to lose it. I was frustrated all day that it wouldn't boot, and that I am not sure who I would have had to call since I can't speak Korean. I also did something later in frustration. There was some dirt under my space bar. I took out the space bar and removed the particles. Okay, that was dumb. Now, what are my options? Can I take my computer somewhere and have it fixed? What about the stuff on it? I don't mind going into Yongsan somewhere. My computer is a Gateway, not a Korean model.
It stopped booting when I shut it down holding the shutdown button after it froze.

Need more information.

Laptop/desktop?

Does it power on? Do you get any lights on the keyboard? Does it beep? Do you see the bios screen before it stops? Do you see the windows screen before it stops?

That said, you can probably get it fixed in yongsan, but if you want more help you need to describe the situation in a lot more detail.

also do you have an external harddrive? do you have access to another computer?

edit: sounds like it is a laptop.

it may have been an over heated (will m,ore than likely restart when cool).

pulling the shift key off is unlikely to have done anything other than stuff the shift key.

If you need the data, remove the harddrive (google if you need too) throw it in an external and back the data up

It is a laptop. It does power on, but it won't restart. What time do the guys in Itaewon open? I heard there is a repair place there. I live in Ilsan, but I could go to either Yongsan or Itaewon.

I had a laptop do something similar once. Try taking out the battery and then booting it.

Me, too! I took out the battery and all was fine after. It did it twice or maybe even three time within the first few months I had the laptop and hasn't done it ever since (fingers crossed!), so I have no idea what went wrong but removing the battery for a few seconds was the solution for me. I hope for you it can be just as easy. Good luck!
