A condom lubricant produced by a health organization to protect sex workers and gay men is being hailed as an acne cure by some in Cambodia, Agence France-Presse is reporting.
Number One Plus, a water-based lubricant made by the organization Population Services International, is an excellent cure for acne, 29-year-old Tep Kemyoeurn told AFP.
"After I used it for three days, all of my acne dried up and went away," she said. "Many people believe in it.".
Khen Vanny, 29, from Phnom Penh, also said women of all ages are using the lubricant to get rid of spots.
"It is very effective. Some people don't believe in it but people who do really get a good result," she told AFP. "My youngest sister and my aunt use it too."
A vendor said she sells Number One Plus at 12 cents a packet to many women each day. |

Probably just means it's laced with antibiotics. In Bangkok you can buy a pack of doxycycline (this stuff is heavy duty, is antimalarial and can even kill anthrax) for around $3; add it to lube and it could not only 'cure' many kinds of VD, but even acne for people weird enough to want to rub it on their faces... |

Not necessarily. Spectro-jel, a popular acne wash, lists glycerin as one of its top ingredients. |

I would be interesting how they got this information. Slippery soapy and jiggling. |

Yeah, but this is Cambodia we're talking about... and it's not a face wash, but something they're rubbing into their skin clearing everything up in mere days. If it actually works as well as they're claiming, it's gotta be antibiotics. |
