Have to agree with that one, the population in Korea is most certainly dense.

Considering all the mountains where people don't live here, it's amazing how densely populated the cities are. Apartment block after apartment block.

Toronto's St. James Town has a population density of over 15000 people for 0.129 squared kilometers. It is the most densely populated area in Canada, and rivals many areas on North America.

I wonder sometimes what the density of some of the neighbourhoods are in Korea.

Average density in Seoul and also in Incheon's housing areas is 18000 pple per square km.
Seoul metro area is from memory 691 square km and pop is approx 10 million.
But, when you look at actual housing areas minus the parks etc you get to about 18k. I imagine some places have more, some less pple depending on the concentration.
I worked it out years ago, and had it confirmed to be pretty much in that ballpark with something I read online recently.

That's why I always get a kick out of newbies in Seoul getting upset about being 'bumped into'. LOL...fact of life given the statistics!

Not true. I imagine that places like Tokyo are almost just as dense, yet you never get bumped into there.

I don't know. I've been to downtown Tokyo a few times, and been 'bumped into' there just as often.

Then again, every place has its own flow, and it takes a while to get used to it. Most of the deal here is that people new to Seoul have to learn to walk to the rhythm of the Korean beat.
