Friends of mine from back home just went public with their hard rock band.
Serious potential to go big.. but thats just my opinion.
Tell me what you think??
I especially like their song "Together".

it says "alternative/progressive".
nothing about it sounds like an alternative to anything.
there isn't a single progressive idea or concept. they can definitely play, but...
it sounds like bad NASCAR yarling radio rock.
the verb "yarl" -
http://www.endino.com/archive/yarl.html
nothing at all new or exciting, and the sad truth is they're probably nice guys and no A&R rep would ever see them and say "hey this band can make my giant record company just a teeny bit richer". basically, 1998 took a dump and it became this band and i'll be surprised if they play outside of the maritimes.
lyrics remind me of stuff my korean 8th grade composition put together.
dudes look like nice dudes who probably deserve to get money for playing rock. but sadly, that shit never happens to nice dudes. |

It's a "been done" sound. My opinion. They should open for Nickelback. |

They should stick to playing covers at backwater hick-town bars, IMHO. |

as negative as we're all being, spliff is right for pretty much the first time in his posting career. there is money in being a cover band.
i would argue this is your friends' only opportunity in the music biz unless they write a lot of songs that are way better and then fellate a lot of dudes. |

They can play but not so original. If they had some hot chick who could sing, they could have a good chance. |

They sound good, but so familiar of the 1990's. It's not a new sound. |

Well here's my two cents:
Not a great name ( although that shouldnt be a big factor).
Terribly cheesy lyrics.
Overall sound is too 'trebley'
Sections of the songs dont progress into each other to smoothly
By the way,
All the above points (aart from the 'trebely') could be applied to the band I play in......thats why its hard to get signed i suppose |

God that was awful.
A couple of talking points here.
1. I respect any band that writes their own music. Cover bands should be outlawed.
2. Any MySpace band that doesn't allow you to download the tracks they have loaded are instant losers.
3. I'm sure that there are people that will just love them, It's not my "style" of music. So I gotta pass. |

Is there a reason that every rawk band in the known universe uses publicity shots that show them in denims and black, hands in pockets (or other, similarly staunch pose), staring expressionless at the camera?
On-stage photos I can understand: you're busy playing your music at the time (or at least you should be). But what about those "band photos"? I mean, do you really think you're going to lose your mojo if you have a photo that shows you... I dunno, ummm... smiling or actually doing something instead of just standing there?
Every last band in the world claims to blend their influences into a unique sound, so why the hell can't they take a photo that doesn't render them indistinguishable from everyone else?
Just because a band's publicity shots don't show them scowling sullenly at the camera, that doesn't make them the Monkees. |

Well, they're from Dartmouth that doesn't bode well. It seems like there's always been loads of great music coming out of the Megatropolis (HDBS) but almost no one makes it big.
|
Megatropolis? That sounds huge. Is that like 1000 metropoli? |
