This is just madness i have been waiting and waiting for my dam visa package from these useless people.

My agent has been giving me apology after apology. She said call them up directly. I did, i got a mouthful of abuse.

I knew they were already behind because the department responsible for generating the visa docs went on holiday!!!! for two weeks during the beginning of Aug.

Holly crap!!! do they want us to come or what?

So two weeks ago they came back and obviously had a large pile to get through, my agent said about 400.

I called GEPIK direct today, they have over 400 still there? Plus the
coordinator responsible for all of this Quit last week.

What a glorious F++K up.

My god i have told people before about problems and red tape in Korea, but this takes the piss.

Shit in one hand or get a visa for Korea in the other, see what you get first.

I am wondering if this is going to be an on going problem for people looking to apply with Gepik next year. I guess to be on the safe side I should apply on March 2009 for a position that starts on August 2009? Confused

Don't worry, man. Your school will be waiting for you.

This happens everywhere with every turnaround. They've got finishing teachers they got to deal with and pay and the newbies coming through. It's madness.

I was in Masan and still waiting for my final pay and bonus.

If you're not already in Korea, just fly over on your own and sit until they have your visa number, I suppose. Public schools are government entitites and trustworthy so they'll pay you back.

The best advice for any GEPIK person is to get in touch with Daen Bae or Wenise Kim. Whenever I have needed advice they have helped me out. Daen Bae has been particularly helpful of late with budget difficulties at school.

Do you know the name and contact info of your school? Once you get that, you can deal directly with your school and they can handle the visa.

Nah, i was told that information would only be released once GEPIK in all their wisdom accepts me, or when they have managed to push paper from one part of the office to another.

Sorry, about your problems. 400 applications that still need to be looked over? That's just crazy.

I found out that one of the Korean teachers at my school was a hakwon owner for 10 years. She said, "Yes, because of the new rules, it's a lot harder to find teachers. Foreigners don't want to come here now, because they don't want to take a drug test or an AIDS test." I told her, "No, a lot of us don't want to deal with the red tape."

Well to be honest i dont have a problem with the tests. They way i look at it is if some one was teaching my kids then i would want them to be tested also. And to be fair theres nothing wrong with a country trying to stop the spread of HIV and drugs. The only issue i believe is that it isnt a broad policy. If you apply for other visas other rules apply. So in that instance yes i think its wrong to just label the teaching group with these types of tests.

Its the total incompetence that gauls me. GEPIK is fraught with so many problems. I have been in Korea before and they really do bang on how better they are. Obviously not!
