No roaring of construction machines, no one yelling and hollering, and just little to no activity. I was actually able to get some good zzz's this morning as I usually fall short on much needed rest when all that noise starts at 5 each morning.

I feel better having got those 2.5 to 3 very important hours of rest in uninterrupted quiet peace. Korea really does get on my nerves in the morning and I feel tired all day many days from it. The workaholics just get up early, yell, honk horns, fire up diesel engines, and make all kinds of noise on most mornings. This in turn, makes the birds go nuts with bawk squawk squawk.

This morning; none of that garbage noise pollution. Just blissful rest. I feel much better.

Apparently you don't live in my neighborhood. I've got guys across the street dismantling scaffolding. It seems that throwing the bars onto the ground as hard as possible is part of their job.

The run-up to Chuseok always seems quite busy to me..........everyone is chuseoking like mad. Gettting their boxes of overpriced fruit and whatever.

It's noisy as hell here in Busan, especially at my school. All of the 9th graders are having a recorder test today and they are all practicing at the same time....

In Seoul, Chusok is the quietest time of the year. Millions of country folk leave town and it get surprisingly peaceful. Only Seoul people are around. After seeing this happen each Chusok I have come to the conclusion that country folk are a noisier bunch than Seoul people.

I'm in Busan too and I noticed that traffic was really light this morning. The bus went the speed limit the whole way to school! The intersections were totally clear of cars trying to sneak through.

I surveyed my classes and more than half are going out of town. I'm staying in town. I wish I was going somewhere but I do enjoy when cities become ghost towns (in the US I always lived downtown and Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas would clear the city out).

The cities may be quieter but my kids were certainly wound up beyond belief today. I haven't been this frustrated with any of my classes in years. I was thinking about taking classes easy tomorrow with the holiday coming up, but they've earned a nice, rigorous study session for themselves after today.

I got to sit on the bus today. WTF is going on? Has half the population already left?

I live way out in the boonies, and if anything, things are getting busier. It just makes it easier heading to Seoul. I do the opposite of 80% of country during the 2 big holidays.

Yea, I live in the boonies too. I enjoyed an unexpected break from all the construction going on in all directions of my apartment. Everything is being built as it's just only beginning to develop, but it's happening quite quickly. They're building streets, sewer, utilities, buildings, and the whole shibang all around where I live so it's been very noisy and very difficult to go walking around locally as it's one big obstacle course. There is a real vibe of motivacation in the air to get it done which means they're utilizing all the day light they can get. Winter should be quite quiet.

I believe the workers must had slept in and chilling today. I noticed the tractor and motorcycle repair shops right behind my apartment are not open today either. It's nice not having all that consruction and mechanical crapola spewing out the usual noise and deisel fumes.

Two days ago a jackhammer started up at 7am. Oh man, brutal, and I'd been up late watching football torrents. I turned on the air cond, the fan, *and* the oven fan as a triple threat of uniform noise. It kinda worked!

Amazingly, with three fans blaring and all windows closed, I avoided near certain fan death.
