I'm experiencing pretty slow download speeds on utorrent and checked the 'speed guide'. This told me that my port does not appear to be open. I don't know the name of my router so i can't use the website that automatically opens to help me.

Can any computer knowledgable people help me out with some advice?

take a look at the router and the name should be right on it in big letters if not, then look at the small type on the sides, back or bottom.

if that fails open your browser and type in 192.168.1.1 and you should see the control panel for your router (assuming you haven't password protected it - and you really should)

now that you theoretically know your router name, go to http://portforward.com and find your router and instructions for utorrent

Or use the "Randomize Port" function in utorrent.

The problem is that i share an internet connection with everyone else in my apartment block. This means i can't take a look at the router to find out the name. I wish i could.
I tried typing in 192.168.1.1 but the browser just gave me and error page.

Any further advice?
