I'm going to build a website.
I'm thinking that www.ibuilt.net is looking pretty good for my needs. It looks simple and inexpensive.

Anybody using it? Any problems?

Any other online site builder better than this one?

Thanks!

How about just using a free wiki page for that?

is pbwiki hosted online? via their servers??

for most users i'd recommend software that is hosted by the company itself. that way maintenance, upgrades and repairs don't need to be done by admins who aren't tech savvy.

a lot of sites offer free packages for simple sites or forums.

try googling free phpbb forums ... you can build a small forum exactly like eslcafe. it might be useful for your group.

if that's too much, just use a site like blogger.com and use a blogging format tailored to your needs.

A friend just had this site created. They sure like flash in Korea. It cost as much as a new Matiz to make, though.

web design is not cheap - I agree about too much flash on that site.

Does your website need to look good? If it's just information, I think you can cut out a lot of BS by just presenting text and maybe a few images.

Will the information on your website change, or will it remain the same over time?

I recommend focusing on the following questions, in order of importance:

1. What function will your users expect the website to perform? Why will they use the website?
2. What information will your website need to provide?
3. What information will be useful, but not essential?
4. What information do you think users MIGHT use?

Question 1 will help you decide if you need to make a website in the first place. Question 2 will help you decide the navigational/content organization of the website. Question 3 will help you decide where best to put your money. Question 4 is where you should be careful because you can spend a lot of time guessing, fantasizing etc. about what users might use.

If you answer these questions I'll try and help you.

Thanks for the offer, but I've decided that www.ibuilt.net is right for me. It's inexpensive, easy to use, and I can post videos online. I couldn't find anything else better than what ibuilt offers. In the past I used Lunarpages, but that sucks.
