Could someone post a how-to step by step guide on how to download and burn Wii games? I don't have a lot of experience downloading and burning games. I assume that once the download with utorrent is completed, you just open Nero and burn a dvd with the file, but I'm not 100% sure if there are steps you have to take in between.

Many thanks in advance!

If it is an ISO file then yes, it is as simple as that. Sometimes the download will be lots of small RAR files though. In that case you need to download 'WinRAR'. Once you have done that, double click on one of the RAR files and extract the ISO file from there. That is the file you can burn.

I have WinRAR.

ANY one of the files?

SkC, you wrote:
The most important issues are

1. is the game the same region as yours (if not use brick blocker) and change the iso's region setting.. you MUST do both or you risk bricking your machine.

2. they recommend memorex dvd's or ones that are dark.. (not sure exactly what that means) supposedly it is harder on the wii's laser and can burn it out faster..

3. the recommended burning software is IMGBURN.. they said at a slow speed but i have had no problems running at max.

Regions
I have always used RegionFrii v1.21
and have never had a problem playing pal games on my N.A wii

You can chance the region string to any region

Honestly, for someone like me who's never downloaded and burned games before...while I understand the meaning of your instructions, I have no idea on the process involved. Call me an old fart (I'm in my 40's now, so I guess I am..) but can you decode all that and put it into plain English? Especially number 1.

Are you saying we cannot use Nero?

Step by step, pretty please with sugar on top?

Ok, depending on where you download will result in you needing winrar or not. Alot of private trackers use rars (though I don't see the usefulness but that is another argument).

1. So first, IF in rar format (prolly 50-70 files) right click on one and click extract here.

It will convert the file to a ISO (disk image)

Ok, the second part depends on the region of the game you are wishing to burn..** It DOES matter. **

Either way, you need these two programs..

brick blocker
http://wbb.rockman18.com/?page=download&ln=en

regionfrii
http://nintendo-scene.com/278

SO before going any further where is your wii from?? Is it a Korean wii?

Ok

1. download and unrar

** right click on file.. choose unpack here **

2. Download the following 2 files.

brick blocker
http://wbb.rockman18.com/?page=download&ln=en

regionfrii - download from torrents .. do a search on google.

3. open brick blocker and browse to find the iso that you unpacked (the wii game).. then click on patch (this will remove the update software on the game)

** this is important because all wii's have software that is updated per region. If you update with software from a different region it can make your wii unusable. **

4. this step is sketchy for me, as my wii is North American and it appears some on this board with Korean wii's seem to have problem playing PAL games (usually European games)..

I usually change the region string to North American, using regionfrii.. but am pretty sure there isn't a new one with a Korean region programed in. Someone else will have to clarify.

5. the recommended burner for wii games is IMG. Burn at a slower speed (around 2.4)

http://www.imgburn.com/

** also most sites recommend using Memorex dvd's. Supposedly they are easier on the wii's laser.

6. after burning... insert and play.

I have done at least 20 games.. it sounds difficult, but it really isn't.

I thought you needed to mod chip it before you can run burned games?

You do, I'll be getting one installed at Yongsan. I just hope that I'll be able to play American games on it after we go back home. Confused

RegionFrii patches Wii game ISOs to run on alternative regioned hardware; allowing you to patch NTSC games to PAL or NTSC-J to NTSC, etc. When used in conjunction with a modchip you are able to play foreign Wii backups on your local hardware.

Like I said before, I have a N.A wii.. and RegionFrii has a string specific for N.A, PAL and Japan.. I just downloaded the latest version .. and there is not a korean one listed.. a poster with a korean wii will have to comment on this.

I would just recommend burning a game without doing this step.. it can't hurt your machine and the worst thing that could happen is that the game doesn't work.

Actually, after doing a bit of reading, it appears this step might be unnecessary in Korean wii's.
