Philippines: TESDA Shuts Down 12 Korean English Education Facilities
Posted by ESL Daily at 9/5/2008 and is filed under Philippines,ASIA,Korea
The Philippine TESDA or Technical Education and Skill Development Authority has shut down 12 English education facilities that cater to Korean students. TESDA formulates manpower and skills plans, sets appropriate skills standards and tests, coordinates and monitors manpower policies and programs, and provides policy directions and guidelines for resource allocation for the TVET institutions in both the private and public sectors. - http://www.tesda.gov.ph Though the education facilities are geared towards Koreans, they have failed to accredit themselves in the province.
The ever growing English education has been expanding more and more to the Philippines from countries around Asia, however companies catering to foreign nationals must abide by local laws. If the education facility fails to become properly accredited it looses its accountability not only in the country but in the eyes of the world.
