If you had 2-3 months to kill (Oct-Dec/Jan) somewhere in Asia, where would you go and what would you do? |

December and January is the dry time and a fraction cooler in Myanmar and other Southeast Asia countries. It starts getting unbearable again at the end of January. |

Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos are great during your time to kill. Southern India is probably good too. Well, tropical areas tend to be most pleasant during the Winter time of the hemisphere their located in. This depends on if it is North or South of the equator. Indonesia is good in August while Thailand is good in January. By good, I mean low humidity, lots of balmy sunshine, little rain, lots of crystal blue sky, and comfortable temperatures. |

Sapa, in Northern Vietnam, is wonderful around that time of year. It will be a little cold (though not freezing), so remember to pack some warm clothing. Motorbiking from Hanoi to Sapa is a truly awesome experience.
Northern Thailand and Laos will also be nice. Towards the end of your trip, head south to soak up the rays before coming back work. Kanchanaburi (bridge over the river kwai) is a beautiful place to chill. The Jolly Frog Backpackers hotel has cheap room (200B double room, en-suite cold shower), and awesome beer-garden and cheap beer to match.
Cambodia is also a nice place to visit. Again, some great motorbiking to be had. Sihanoukville beach on the south coast is not a nice a Thai beaches, but cheaper and less crowded. ANGKOR WAT has to be seen.
I'd avoid most of the island resorts in Southern Thailand. Prices are constantly on the up, and people see you as a walking ATM. |

I'm cheap. I'll have 2 months to kill starting dec. 20 or so. I'll go the gym, play basketball, watch football, listen to my Korean mp3s, and watch movies. Typical stuff. I might be applying to an online MA program. |

Couldn't agree more. Thailand has turned into the biggest ripoff.[/quote] |
