Comparing this medium to a open market is completely un-related... There is no way that this internet forum has any relation to a market in Insadong per say... I have been to many outdoor markets where people low ball all day... They just get laughed off..
And Gideon, whats with the star trek cuss words???
Your as lame as sobriquet's passive agressive intention to dismantle Inchuck's well being... |
Perhaps your right about comparing this medium to an open market. i'll take that back.. but, um glad Spliff got f@ckd over. he screwed me when i was trying to sell something and now its his turn..
As for calling me lame.. well, your entitled to your opinion like everyone on this board. But to an extent! |
How exactly did Spliff screw you? |

i gotta go with spliff on this one for the following reasons:
1. the buy/sell/trade forum is a free service. you have the right to set your price, and buyers have a right to lowball you. spliff's comments are sometimes on the sarcastic side, but usually are accurate. if your feelings are so delicate, maybe your mommy should take away your internets.
2. making comments that people don't like is perfectly legal. stealing is not.
3. spliff's avatar is hotttttt as hell.
4. spliff is the only poster on dave's who has a verb named in his honor. |
Not true. have you ever heard of getting "Dereked"? |

i'm not sure what being 'dereked' is, but i've got a raging clue about it!
people lowball sellers in markets all the time, and there's nothing illegal about it. it IS illegal, however, to physically threaten or to steal from that person. from what i can tell, spliff has acted in good faith even though he has been robbed and threatened. this forum is public, and if you decide to reap the benefits of advertising on it, you must accept the downside as well.
if lowballing is such a problem, you could always get a friend to 'highball' your products as well - it happens on ebay all the time! |

This thread needs to die. Seriously people, Spliff got cheated, move on.
I get ripped off constantly in Korea by people selling me products that have inflated prices. It happens everywhere.
Caveat Emptor = Buyer Beware.
Do your research, which actually is often assisted by Spliff. Buying products that are overpriced is the buyer's fault; getting ripped off by the seller is a different story.
I can't believe there have been 7 pages dedicated to explaining that an online buy/sell forum has problems, many of which exist in the real world.
I think Spliff getting ripped off is weak, but not as weak as this thread continuing for all this time.

I think the reason people keep posting is that they are waiting to actually here Inukshuk's side of the story. He's been given ample opportunity to do so but has remained silent. I stand by what I said on page one of this thread that I was shocked that people were saying "ha ha Spliff got what he deserved" which was apples to oranges in my book. So far the majority of people have agreed with me, that although Spliff can by annoying, that doesn't make it right to rip him off. |

There has been no change. Inukshuk is, for all my knowledge, somewhere sitting outside a closet waiting in vain for me to apologize for calling him a name and making some posts that didn't agree w/ his tender temperamentallity. 15,000w richer by ill gotten gains.
Also, I may be wrong but, there's a good chance that Inukshuk may have lost all ability to post. Perhaps he has a sock. I don't know and really i don't care. I just would like for him to return my money or forward me the books we bargained for. |

That means "where is Inukshuk?" in Inuktitut. |

Imagine Spliff going to a Korean police station with a phone number and bank info in his hands telling a Korean about how another foreigner like himself robbed him of $15. Now that would be better than porn. |

I just want to say, like I've said before, that some of the links Spliff posts, which show lower prices, are misleading.
Take for example, if 99% of a certain model TV is selling for 900,000w, and danawa has 1 dealer selling it for 750,000w, its not fair to post the 750,000w price and say, "Thats what its going for." |

Well, to each his own...I'd rather pay 750,000. But if you notice on Danawa ( and the 6 other sites I look at) there will be many ads for 1,500,000 or more. I say you are more than welcome to pay that price, bro.
I recently bought a optical cable switcher (cause I'm running 5 op cables and my receiver only has two ins) for 16,000. the next nearest price was 52,000 ( and there were many higher). Needless to say I choose the lower price. And I noticed that the same shop also had the 52,000 price for the same item in a different ad. I guess they wanted to move some cause it's not a popular item or one that is much needed. But, I know if I hadn't done the extra bit searching I would have ended up paying that price. I don't know why but, it pays to shop around. |

Bait and switch is very common here too, just like back home. Just because 750,000 won is advertised (for example) doesn't mean you will actually get it for that. |
