Does anyone know anything?

Ive read that Obama wants it to continue and the Commission wants it to continue, but that McCain doesnt. Does that mean its on? On with only one candidate showing up?

IF it does go on, what time will it air here in Korea?

Anyone?

From Friday's debate: A bizarre game of chicken
But whatever McCain's underlying motivations, both campaigns are now locked in a bizarre game of chicken. If McCain actually boycotts the Oxford debate, Obama may score a public-relations coup while his Republican rival looks weak and evasive. Or the Democratic nominee may appear too political while McCain puts on his mantle as statesman. Republican strategist Rich Galen, who advised Fred Thompson in the primaries, said, "It's a brilliant stroke by McCain. You will have an empty chair debate in Oxford without McCain. And an empty chair at the White House economic negotiations without Obama." Of course, George W. Bush, an early-to-bed president, is unlikely to be meeting anything but his pillow at the White House during debate time Friday night.

McCain does not ant to face Obama right ow in an (semi)open debate.

Obame will focus on McCain's record of deregulation, and how things are right now, McCain will end up eain the floor.

McCain's camp is avoiding the press right now, and I think that's wise.

edit: typed with the light off in the room - tough to focus. sorry all.

Well, I think this round of debates is supposed to be about foreign policy. However, one theory I heard being floated is that, since foreign policy is supposed to be McCains strong suit, he is worried about having the debate at a time when news about the stalled bailout in D.C. is distracting attention from overseas issues.

CC,

You sound tired, get some rest.

I don't know if the debates are on or off, but they are suppose to be on at 10am Saturday morning.

According to Letterman, Obama will be debating Regis Philbin

This is true.

I don't know why the 2 candidates and the Commission in charge didn't sit down at a conference call for 3 seconds and agree to change the topic to the economy. This is what everyone is interested in. This is what everyone needs to know--one or the other of these men is going to be in the White House in about 4 months in charge of this mess. I want to know what they think about it all. We all do.

It is playing fast and loose with public confidence for them not to address the issue of the day. I lay the whole thing at McCain's feet. The longer the campaign goes on, the less I believe his 'maverick' image. I have begun to think it was his creation just to get the key to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. One (but only one) of the reasons is his choice of a fairly flakey right winger as VP. IF ( a very big IF) he was a maverick, he sold out to get his hands on the power. To me, that means 'McCain First and Screw the future of the country'.

I just saw something on MSNBC about a bailout deal being close to completion. Haven't read the article yet, but if it's true, then the debate will probably go ahead for Friday.

Rumor is that McCain hasn't changed his mind about not going to the debate. If that's the case, Obama will turn it into a town hall style Q&A.

He also would like to re-schedule the debate for the same day the VP debate is supposed to take place, which would let Palin off the hook.

That is correct. It will be on in 90 minutes here, which is 9pm EST. Add 13 hours, and you get Korea's time zone.

Keith Olberman says he's have both a pre-debate and post-debate program. No doubt others are as well.
