I just found out that my school's winter break is from 1/7 to 3/1. I only signed a year contract so my last day of work is basically 1/7 and I'll just have to sit around and wait for my contract to end on 2/28. I assume I'll have some sort of vacation class to teach for a short time, but other than that, my presence in Korea will seem to be pointless during that time.
Is anyone in this situation too? Have you gotten any information from your school about what the heck you're supposed to do during the break (besides have leasure time)? My co-teacher is not helpful... |

Depending on your school you'll most likely have to come in to school everyday, except for your contractual holiday, and teach some kind of winter school classes. In addition you might have to work a winter camp. Depending on your relationship with your co-teacher, they may or may not inform you of this the week (or possibly the day) before you actually start teaching.
Or you might be one of the lucky few who have the entire winter break off to do as you please. If so, please don't brag about it here on Dave's. I hate you and I don't want to hear about it. |

Wow, that's cool. Can I do and write about temple stays, mountain hiking, and shopping in Seoul?
I hope I get lots of chill time... |

Last winter, during the time when I was supposed to come in and do nothing, I picked up some extra work teaching a winter camp with another school - but part of SMOE. So I was getting paid from my school and getting paid from another one.
May as well make some cash cause otherwise you just gotta sit around. |

| If you are interested in learning some Korea, you may also be able to convince them to let you take Korean classes during the break instead of coming to work. It all depends on your principal. |

I teach a short two week camp at the beginning of break and then have the entire remainder of the break to do as I please. Usually always go home to Thailand for a month or so. 
Summer is the same albeit a bit shorter. |
