I'm a UCLA alum too, but I actually root for USC. My dad went to USC so I grew up rooting for them. Also, it's sort of Pac 10 pride, as I usually root for any Pac 10 in non-conference (curse you east coast bias!!)

When Ucla plays SC, of course I'm with the Bruins. I'm actually pretty excited about the Bruins, I don't think they'll do much this year but I think the coaching staff is really one of the best in the nation now with Chow on offense. I see us very competitive in 2 to 3 years.

Now they're saying Wells is doubtful. Maybe it's just a ploy, but if he doesn't play...

Is the USC-Ohio St. game going to be televised on AFN? I saw a few commercials for it on AFN, but when I check on the AFN website it shows that AFN Atlantic, not AFN Pacific will be showing that game. I hope they show it. I just got back to Korea two days ago and I don't have my internet up and running, which nullifies my slingobx. Does anybody know any places in Ilsan that will be open tomorrow where I can go get wi-fi to stream my slingbox and watch football? Thanks.

Dude, BYU is putting a beating on UCLA right now, 59-0 with the entire 4th quarter to go.

I couldn't get a Ucla torrent yet, so I'm actually glad I got the spoiler. 59-0 to Byu in the 3rd quarter? That's ugly. Tennesse, what are you thinking of that?

But I have not expected anything from UCLA this year. I just pray the beatdown doesn't hurt recruiting. And think about Washington and Ty Willingham, they got robbed against BYU.

However, to the game of actual importance. USC actually could have scored 50 if they hadn't made some mistakes/penalties. They always take care of business OOC but the pac 10 will give them trouble, and I'm thinking Oregon. I haven't seen all the torrents yet but I was *very* impressed by USC even though they really are a work in progress in terms of the offense. Their defense is so fast, they will be very hard to beat this year.

I'd say USC is even odds to win the natl. championship atm.

Until they lose a game when they're favored by 41 points.

You think this will happen this year. They had a lot of injuries against Stanford. If you think they're gonna lose a game where they're heavy favorites, I'll put serious won on that!

I do agree the Stanford loss was pathetic, but it's the only home loss they've had in the past few years. Off the top of my head they're 38-1.

Add the the fact that, unfortunately, the Pac 10 looked horrible this week, and USC has a favorable schedule.

I'm sticking with my prediction made on this thread a few weeks ago.

Usc vs. Oklahoma in the natl. championship.

It's not so much that I think it's going to happen as it is that they've been known to lay some serious eggs in either "should win" or "must win" games the last two seasons. Have you forgotten the loss to UCLA a couple of years ago? Absolutely inexcusable.

In any case, and I've said this before, I've never been a fan of anointing the next BCS champion (or even predicting the match-up) this early in the season for a couple of reasons.

1: It's still early, and as evidenced by last year, anything can happen in even the last week (I mean, c'mon, an LSU team that barely scraped by a very mediocre Tennessee team in the SEC championship dominating OSU?)

2: Teams that look utterly unstoppable early either lay eggs later in the season or get revealed as having played weak competition (when they finally play a good team.)

Now, USC certainly looks like the favorite, but we're only a couple games in, and a team with a good pass rush and decent tackling might make them look a bit more vulnerable, but it's still too early to tell.

I agree that speculation this early is just that, pure speculation. The Ucla loss was a rivalry loss. When I was attending Ucla we beat them like 45-42 in an absolute barnburner and that year we'd been absolutely god-frickin awful. They were much better but you throw the records out the window.

It was the greatest football game I've ever attended (even though meaningless as both teams were pretty low in the rankings). I'll never forget all the very attractive women that were so drunk and giddy and thrilled *anyone* who was a Ucla fan could have... well never mind.

But you're gonna have people guessing BCS matchups throughout the season, that's part of the fun.

What I like about USC is team speed, and in particular defensive speed. USC will give up yards to the likes of Oregon. But the entire defensive squad is so quick to the ball, that creates turnovers. And turnovers are game changers. Also, USC is nearly invincible at home recently, and they get all their tough games at home.

I don't quite think the Pac 10 is as bad as it looked last week. First couple weeks it looked fine. We'll see if last week was an outlier.

Just watched the two thursday night games on torrents. Not gonna give spoilers (WVA v Colorado, Ks St. vs Louisville), but *both* games are well worth watching.

USC is having problems with the other OSU. Oregon State is up 21-0 at the half. Yep, the same OSU that got waxed by PSU 45-14.

I'm not saying I called this upset by any means, but it illustrates perfectly what I was talking about.
