Hello,

I just bought a Xbox 360 on ebay (American version). Now I understand that many of the games that I want to play are region free. So I could buy Korean games and they would work on my system without problem. What I am concerned about is language. Does anyone know if there is a way to change the language on Korean games to English or if an option is already available on some games?

Thanks,

The back of the box will tell you what written and spoken language the game is in. Just research your games before you buy them. You can always get Chinese versions (most always in English) off play-asia if Korea don't deliver the goods!

In my experience, HUGE releases like Halo 3, Assassin's Creed and COD 4 are going to be fully translated into Korean with no option for English text and sometimes even voice.

By and large, most games will give you the option. Gears says "Korean Text / English Audio" on the box but when you boot it up its in full English. Same with Too Human. Same with many others.

A smaller release, or a genre that won't sell as well on the Korean market is just going to say "English Text / Audio" on the box. Half-life 2, Soul Calibur, Rainbow Six, Condemned, Burnout. Plenty!

When in doubt, ask the shopkeeper.

Okay. I have been buying on Ebay recently and it is actually cheaper to buy it and have it sent here than it is to buy a new game here, but I am a little impatient so...

I use a Korean sourced xbox 360 and so far all games that I've used have been in English.

You can set the unit itself to english too. Never used an American (or other) 360 before but can't see how the experience could be any different.

Biggest problem with buying games in korea is that the manual is in Korean usually, but for some games, i.e. GTA4 it was all English.

you can pick the units up pretty cheap 2nd hand in Yongsan in that underground games mall,

Oh, you can also pick up 2nd hand games reasonably priced at that arcade in Yongsan. Some people seem to buy them new, "back them up" and then sell them 2nd hand, so you get virtually new games for 2nd hand prices. Hard to beat.

Every time I've tried they've been cool with showing it to me running in English.
