My co teacher has just informed me that I will be teaching afternoon classes from 3:30-5:00 at another school in my district. I actually taught there over the summer for camp and liked pretty much everyone I met there, so I'm not terribly upset. The only thing is that my first shift is Wednesday and they just let me know now, when teachers at the other school have known since last week.

I'm sick and tired of the arrogance of my admin and I've made it rather clear to my co teacher that their management method is the reason I'm not coming back next year (she agrees they suck). Is there any other kind of leverage/extra pay I can squeeze out of my school? I'm not really sure what my pay is going to be yet either. Can they stick me with the standard 20k/hr? My VP and P are total wastes of genome and I've had about enough of their BS.

Also, they haven't paid me yet and it's the 29th.

I would think that the other school would pay and not your school.

I'm sick of this kind of stuff as well, but it boils down to how badly you want to do the classes, and what else you'll get out of it.

I would tell them that you will need more than 20,000 per class since you need to travel somewhere else. I think you would get more money no problem, bu if they say that the pay is 20, it might still be worth your while.

Maybe you will be allowed to head over to that school at lunch time, so you could easily stop somewhere and have a coffee and relax for a few hours between your classes. That would make it worth it for me.

That would make it pretty tolerable actually, there's a Uni right in the middle of the two schools. Thanks for the tip I'll work on that.

Make sure the pay is calculated into your severance.

Hey dude! School giving you crap eh? That sucks.

Are you saying your school hasn't paid you for September yet? There is no excuse for that. GIve them hell. Get angry enough that they won't forget again.

Also, doesn't the SMOE contract say 4.30 is the end of the day. I've never actually looked at my contract since the day I signed it so I could be wrong. But isn't anything past that OPTIONAL.

Your co-teacher is aware of the problems but doesn't seem to be doing anything to support you. She really should be fighting your cause more than she is.

You should know that your work at this other school is optional. Unless they changed the SMOE contract recently.

I have only known one teacher who worked at two schools and it was only because there weren't enough classes in one of his small schools.

Dodgy Al, if I never hear your voice again it will be too soon. Probably.

In my co-t's defense, she got me knocked down from three times a week to two, and the school I'm teaching at thinks I'm a great teacher (WRONG!) so I'm going to wait it out and see what the extra $ they promised turns out to be. If it's not great, I'm going to bitch about the 5:00 issue until they make me happy.

Also, d.a, we need to get wasted soon. Do you know any insecure girls you can invite as well?

I thought there was a clause that indicated the workplace can be changed? If not, then I'll have to see what they're going to pay me before I drag my feet. Does this mean I have some leverage about pay?

At the times u mentioned it's almost certain that the Ss will be paying ones. U should get all of what they pay if u are teaching alone.

I guess this is part of a new program implemented by the head of SMOE. He wanted to ramp up English Education and most of the funds fell to rich Gangnam areas. In response to pressure, he designated a few poor schools some $$$ to teach poor kids, who won't be paying. I'm sure they're going to lowball me for pay and try the "they're so poor we can't afford blah blah".

They tried to offer my friend who is the native teacher at that school 200k for 14hrs/mo while he was in line for a 1000k/mo teacher's class so he balked. He went over his principal's head and got the district job and didn't have to do this poor kid's class. Apparently his principal was miffed and went after me b/c they knew me from the summer camp where I taught, and he wanted to feel like a boss. On principal, I want to be a thorn in everyone's side b/c of the short notice and general arrogance endemic to the two Korean principals involved. If I can refuse this I'd like to know so I have some bargaining power if they try to throw that same 200k figure at me.

can't you refuse the OT? Any OT offered to me is optional. I'm also with SMOE.

anyway, if there's travel involved definitely ask for transportation allowance. I was with GEPIK last year and they asked me to teach at a nearby elementary school. I rode the school bus with the kids but I still got a transportation allowance.

yeah 22...but anything over 22 my school still makes it optional. So, what's the outcome?

Korean organization..every is always last minute. I don't even get upset anymore...unless it's some special holiday and I haul my butt to school to discover no one there.... then i'd lose it.

Well I'm getting paid rather well, but apparently everybody else knew about this weeks in advance and they said it was optional, whereas I knew jacksh*t until this week. I'm going to try to say I'll pull out and I want an extra 20k won/day. Maybe it will work maybe it won't.
