Which is why I thought I should post this in the general discussion board, rather than the current events one. I'm not sure about what levels are considered dangerous, but if they are pulling them from the shelves, it can't be safe.
Plus, I'm sure there are little mom and pop shops there who just won't know about this and will leave them on the shelves. Better safe than sorry, and not eat them for a while. |

| I'd try and keep your students from eating them too, although taking candy away from a Korean kid may be pretty difficult lol. |

I was right when I thought it was cheap Chinese crap quality. I knew Korea imported a great deal from China and the quality is often lower than what they export to America. Korea just doesn't have anything so they have to import things; at least the raw materials to manufacture things. Too bad they don't buy more American things, but China has a lot to sell at cheap prices so they have the competitive advantage. |

I had some peanut M&M's about 3 weeks ago. Half-way through eating them I saw on the back that they came from China. This was before the warning.
Anyway, I feel fine. But it's always good to stay away from Chinese "goods". |

Such bedwetters. You're not infants and this isn't baby formula. The trace amounts of melamine found in candy bars is well below the risk level. Face facts: Just living in Korea (with the exception of select neighbourhoods in northern Seoul) is taking more years off your life than all the melamine-tainted Chinese food ingredients you could eat.
Besides, China has cleaned up its act and learnt its lesson: Next time this happens, lean fast & heavy on foreign governments to muzzle their sensationalist media, or face the consequences. |

Never liked the chocolate in Korea. Low quality and tasted like crap so I always avoided it like the plague.
Lot of my coworkers and students ate the tainted chocolate probably on a daily basis. I feel sorry for them not knowing any better. But oh well... |

Very true.
Some specifics come to light. I can't count how many 'farms' I've driven past which were located in the flood plain, right next to oil refineries, railways, or chemical factories. Then, look at all those vegetables on sale on the sidewalk, right under the continuous exhaust fumes of daily traffic. |

| yeah so far every time i buy a chocolate bar it tastes like crap. of course, a few of those were from the convenience store where i live, and where they apparently do not change their stock so the chocolate has gone all white and nasty. how do i forget? anyways, my boyfriend told me also that oreos have been pulled and i ate like 3 boxes this week. (don't ask) i didnt want to believe him but they were all gone off the shelve at emart today so i guess its better anyways. i probably would have eaten them anyways. it takes quite alot to pull me from my snacky foods. i think i have a problem. sooooo i guess dont eat oreos either? |
