by cheap I mean around 20 000-30 000. Is that possible in hongdae? Nothing too scummy.

You can get a yeogwan for 30,000 somewhere in the Hongdae area.

Not too, too scummy.

Hmm?

Some people think less than 30,000 is cheap and some people less than 50,000. I know a yogwan for 35,000 and hence I was in a quandry as to whether or not that would be considered cheap.

Late. Tired. Didn't want to describe the place if there was no reason to.

Careful!

A lot of the yeogwans in the Hongdae, Shinchon and Hapjeong areas will not let foreigners take rooms. This happend to me and a group of friends last year at Christmas AND on New Year's Eve. They want "short time" customers and lied to us about "being full," even when green (vacant) spots could be seen among the red (occupied) spots on the check-in computer.

You might get lucky and actually find a place, but don't wait until late to get a room. Grab on as soon as you're in the neighbourhood.

You might be able to crash here, if you call ahead of time and reserve a room or a bunk: www.kimsguesthouse.com

There are tons of yeogwans in Shinchon.. probably well over a 100 or so.

They are all located in the area behind McDonalds and Burger King which are on a corner of the Shinshon Rotary when you come up out of the subway.

(Shinchon is one subway stop from HongDae on the green subway line #2).

I've never heard of anyone being turned away there. Not discrediting Canucksaram, I just haven't heard of it before. Then again it is New Years Eve.. so its possible it could get full.. with so many rooms however.. seems like you'd find something.

Many are around the 25,000 won price last I knew.. and of course upward if you want..

like u pay 15,000 and u go from club to club and i think it covers 1 drink at each place. but i dunno if it's a summer only thing.

That my dear is "Club Day". Don't ask me why they call it day, when it is so obviously night time. You only get one drink - and thats at the place you bought your ticket. Busy as *beep*. millions of people, but can be a pretty cool night out. Last fri of the month.
