Damn. I googled this and I think I'd rather have a yeast infection. Maybe I'll try it over summer when I will hopefully have more control of what I eat and when. |
You can try boiling your undies, normal washing isn't hot enough to kill the yeast. Yeast loves heat so unless it is washed at a very high temperature the yeast won't die. In the past this has worked well for me, and my best friend. Also eat yogurt everyday with active bacteria, never stay damp for long periods of time, and only use specific towels for drying, never share them or use them when you aren't having trouble...unless you boiled them:)
For UTIs always make sure you drink before bed so your bladder has sometime to pee out in the morning, you need to have a lot of force to blast out the bacteria, which is basically trying to climb in from the outside. Canberry juice is super acidic, so it destroys the bacteria. Usually it is preventable, at the first sign drink 4 liters of water and flush your system out. All peeing pre-post sex in a good idea, I think that was my problem too much sex, not enough peeing.
Molly,
I'll see how much weight I have lost after my next period that is the best time to get accurate results. I think it is mostly water weight, no more bloating...YAY! |

To the woman that mentioned Canesten for yeast infections,
god bless you.
Also, apple cider vinegar is widely available here and pretty helpful. |

Just wanted to add, for the women with frequent bladder infections, that D-Mannose has been helpful for me. It's a sugar that binds to e. coli (the culprit in most uti's) and stops the bacteria from sticking to your body. When you pee it all gets flushed out. There's lots of information if you google it, and it comes in capsules that are easy to take. I take one or two after sex and have only had one uti in a year, and even then it was more of an annoyance as oppsed to the raging infections I've had in the past.

I take Uro-Vaxom. It's for women with constant UTI's. It's a pill with dead ecoli bacteria the most common bacteria that causes UTI's. You have to take it for like 3 months when you don't have an infection. It builds up your body's response to the bacteria, so that you won't be so prone to infection. I've had luck with it.
Ijust went to my doctor printed this http://www.ompharma.com/uro-vaxom/urinary-tract-infection.html and told her I wanted it. She prescribed it, buty like in 2 week increments which is a pain cause you have to use it for like 3 months. |

Hi ladies!
In a board full of guys, this thread was surprising to find..but helpful as I've been wondering about BC issues as well. I'm 23 and have been on the pill since I was 18, so I definitely don't want to go off it during this big life change (I'm moving over there at the end of this month). The pill I am currently taking though, Yaz, is making me feel like crap..very tired, anxious, and generally just "off." It keeps my skin totally clear though, which is one of the only perks. Anyway, I have a doctor's appointment this week and I think I am going to ask him to prescribe me a couple packs of generic Ortho Tri-Cylen to get me started over there. What would be the most similiar BC pill to Ortho over there?
Also, on a similiar note..I am beginning to think about what toiletries to pack. Should I bother bringing a big supply of razors, or are Venus type styles commonly found over there? And what about OTC sleep-aids like Unisom, or Tylenol PM?
Thanks |

I know there aren't many available kinds here, so I would probably stock up on your brand before leaving. If you're not planning on having kids for a while I would recommend getting and IUD while you're here. They're like $100 dollars, good for 5 years, and you can get them hormone free, so it doesn't mess with your moods. It's the most popular birth control method in the world.
As for things to bring. You can find razors here, but they're expensive I would stock up on those. AS far as meds I would also bring a lot of theraflu. Also, if you're particular about face wash I would bring a lot of that, and also some face cream since most of the creams here have whitener in them. Good luck. |

Just wanted to add: I got the Mirena IUD before I came here. I didn't want to deal with having to go to the doctor for birth control or anything. Luckily it was covered by my insurance because it would have been pretty expensive otherwise so if you can, go for it. I definitely recommend it.
I know it says all over their website that it's only for women who've had children but my doctor said no, she had done it numerous times for childless women as well, including me. Someone else mentioned the thing about the cervix and that's what my doctor said; it's easier for someone with a child because their cervix is already wide enough or something. Other women can get it, it's just that insertion will likely hurt more.
For me, it hurt like hell. It was like the worst cramp I've ever had in my life times a hundred. I thought I was going to faint during the procedure (which really was very quick, though it didn't feel like it lol) I got it done in the morning and had to go to work afterward and barely made it through. Second day I was fine! And since it's good for 5 years, it was worth it. Some women get lighter periods but I had only 1 afterward and NONE since. That in itself is glorious!
The Diva Cup thing looks interesting. At first there was definitely an "ew" factor but I think I could get over that really quick. Can't be more disgusting than a bloody tampon. But since I won't be having periods for the next 4 years I don't have to worry about it yet!
Hope this helps someone! |

I'm childless too and have an IUD. It was painful as hell to put in. You usually have to wait till right after your period when your cervix is at it's widest to have the doctor put it in. I agree it was totally worth it. My IUD is hormone free so I still get my periods. My cramping is no better or worst than before the IUD. I wish I would have known about this when I was younger It would have saved me lots of money and trouble. |

A quick note to all while I'm thinking about it...if you have an IUD you cannot use a diva cup. Cup creates suction which can yank your IUD loose or something. Not good.
Also, does anyone know what types of IUDs are available in Korea? I went to get a Mirena here in the US and found out my uterus is freakishly small and I risk a perforation with the t-shaped Mirena or copper IUD (I was so disappointed). I know in Europe there is one available that is a thin copper line of beads, no t-shape, that I could have, I think it is called Gynafix? Not approved here in the US yet, probably b/c the big pharma people at the FDA would prefer that I have to buy pills every month. |
