The Canon PowerShot SD950IS is an awesome digital camera. I bought mine on my last trip to Japan for under Y30,000 but think it retails in Korea for almost a $100 more... It's the best digicam I've ever had.

+1 for a Canon xxxIS model. My 800IS is great. The IS (image stabilisation) system really reduces blurred shots under a great many conditions.

I will recommend a Canon too.

I've had Casio, Sony, Kodak digicams before. Canon is the best, hands down. Too bad Canons lose on the aesthetics department. All their cameras look the same.

If you get a point and shoot, get one with an Optical Image Stabilizer. Make sure its optical and not digital. Pick a few up and see how comfortable they are in your hand. Also, see how easy/intuitive it is to use.

In the $200-300 range, you aren't going to see too much difference between the cameras.
