Anyone who has worked at YBM's Sungbuk ECC, Seokgye ECC, or Sanggye ECC please share your story. If you're currently employed or were previously, what are/were your working hours like? Housing? Contract disputes? Did you like living in this area or would you have preferred living elsewhere?

Any info is appreciated.

Isn't ECC now known as ECKEDU?

ECC is a franchise. Each branch will be different. Post the contract.

That is the first I've heard of a name change. Those are schools listed under the YBM website as company owned schools. Is there any significance to a name change?

Where should I run to? oh shane you changed it!

Sorry , I edited my post. A friend of mine was royally screwed by an ECC school. I helped her with cash and a place to stay but she left Korea without getting what was owed. This was in Mokpo so I shouldn't tar them all with the same brush.

(Disclaimer: I worked for YBM ECC in 2005/06).

All three of those branches are company owned.

Housing:
Fine, no complaints. You will get a standard filing cabinet style studio like everyone else.

Hours:
Mine were 10am to 9pm Mon-Wed-Fri (with a 4 hour break in the early afternoon) and 3pm to 7pm on Tue-Thu. Plus winter and summer intensives. So not great. But you could negotiate a standard 3pm-9pm arrangement.

Contract Disputes:
Not really. The pay, whilst low, was always on time.

Locations:
Any of those three would be fine. Seokgye is probably the best.

When you go to ecckorea.com, ir automatically redirects you to eckedu.com

Yes I negotiated with them direct.

I'm not endorsing YBM, but merely stating that, like a job at McDonalds, it is low on the Korean ESL food chain (in terms of pay and conditions) but it is a begrudgingly safe option and they won't spring too many surprises at you.
