I came into my hagwon today and everyone was frantically stuffing notices into envelopes. I didn't think much of it but thought I'd ask what it was. Good thing I did, as I'm sure nobody would have told me. Our school will be closed tomorrow and Friday as well.


Sounded great until I discovered that we now don't have the Monday and Tuesday off before the three day Solar holiday as originally planned. Somehow those two days have been change to one day off on Friday.

The wonders of Korean thinking never cease.

At least I only have 2 classes today 2-20-3:50 and my adult class at 7 is cancelled, so it'salmost a 3 day holiday for me.

Update: It turns out they changed the holiday because some parents complained a full week off from studying is too much. HUK! They mean a full week spending time with their kids is too much.

My boss also shocked me by closing the school Dec. 31st and January 2nd. I thought that this was going to be my last two days of vacation time, but she's also giving me the two days off before Lunar New Year as my vacation time!

I just sealed the deal today to quit this job though, to teach adults in Seoul. Better money, better students, more vacation, but HORRIBLE hours. I'm wondering if I should have my head examined.
