THE SALEM TROLL TRIALS

Well that's what it seems like sometimes. I just must be way out on chat board culture, because I don't understand why someone would be suspected of 'trolling' for posting such information, in this case the death of a seriously depressed person. Why would anyone write a false post like that? Why?

And, if you suspect that someone is doing that, why respond in an accusatory tone when you could never be sure? If you think it is a troll, why don't you just leave it?

If someone is so incredibly bored that they would invent stuff to get a rise out of a bunch of people they don't know, then they don't need to be named and shamed, they must surely already know how sad they are.

Thanks Son Deureo! for posting the story. It's a real tragedy. As a counselor, I'm very much aware that clinical, depression , loneliness, SAD, panic/anxiety disorders, etc. tend to be hightened between Dec. & March ~especially during the holidays.

I personally think that a few people who are experiencing a kind of mild depression come to Korea and their lives take a total turn for the better. Change can be VERY good for some of us. While many others come over and find that "the raft is not the shore" and feel more out of sorts than ever. Possibly, returning to one's home country's community might be a very helpful suggestion.

I've also seen certain individuals find the community & support that they need here in Korea and seen people experience much change for the better and am very encouraged by this. Yet, we are very much lacking in having a sense of social net here in Korea. One of my goals is to help put together a network that is bigger than just FOCUS in the Seoul area that stretches to most cities around Korea. Getting counselors, psychiatrists, trained clergy, etc. who we can refer people to who are in need. Would appreciate any help or ideas from all of you.

Yet, in the end I'm left wondering what can I learn from this?

I am going to add my 2 cents worth now. Tiberious you would have to be the most judgemental piece of shit I have ever heard on this board. And as for you man Kind.....You come second as the biggest piece of shit on here. Here is a man that was desperate. For those of us that have a Korean missus, it can be a hard slog at times and having one that cheats on you would make it all the more worse. Even though you have apologised Tiberious you will be someone that I can never take seriously again with a stupid attitude like that. My sincere condolences to the family and his friends. I hope all of the 'decent' foreigners can help people who are in this situation next time.
