Well guess what? It just got more complicated. Now you have to go to this website and request permission electronically.

https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/esta.html?_flowExecutionKey=_c6442FA2F-C99F-FA01-FF08-15A50836A5AF_k44256F3B-8233-E867-9994-89C5A47690F6

If i wasn't from the US, I would never go there considering all the sh!t they make foreigners go through just to get in there.

Absolutly crazy.

I believe in reciprocity. Whatever policy the US institutes against foreign nationals, they exact same (or worse) should apply to them.

If you have ever tried to get a US visa its an absolute joke, the cost in terms of time and money is ridiculous, and the attitude at the embassy is one of "we are looking for a reason to reject you"

Did you really believe that you'd be able to buy a ticket to the US and just waltz on the plane? There is a reason that the US has to have such a system. Something like terrorism, maybe you've heard of it. Recriprocity for US citizens? Not gonna be much of a problem because not many Americans have the desire to visit Korea. You want someone to blame? Don't blame the USA. Blame all the Koreans who overstay their visas, bring prostitution, and are involved in criminal activities in the US. They are why the system is more complicated.

Whirlwind, those new regulations are for people on the visa waiver list.

If you didn't check out the list, 20 of the 25 odd countries are Western European...which happens to be the most popular tourist and business destination for Americans.

KOREA IS NOT ON THE LIST, AND THUS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH KOREA AND KOREANS.

Of the 5 non-european countries on the list, they include Japan, Australia and NZ. How many terrorists come from those countries exactly?

But you are right, the US is being swarmed with millions of Swiss, Swedish and Danish immigrants who want nothing more than to spread terror, overstay their visas and get involved in prostitution. Oh and you can't trust the Brits or the French either.

You're a little out of the loop, eh? Korea will be joining the visa waiver countries(although this is a mistake). They will have to conform with the requirements, which means that they will have to be approved in order to travel. Don't like it? Then don't go.

Your terrorism comment is laughable. Terrorism can come from ANYWHERE. You always have to be prepared. I'm glad that people like you hold no position in the world because you would probably be okay with letting anyone in and just assuming that because they are from an area that isn't a hotbed for terrorism that it is safe and that nothing bad would ever come from there Rolling Eyes And Koreans WILL overstay their visas and bring prostitution with them. You're pretty dense, aren't you?

Well, Korea's not on the list yet, so I doubt they are changing the rules for 25 countries based on Korea's imminent placement.

Secondly, based on reciprocity, Americans should have to go through the exact same amount of hoops. Europe too has been victim of terrorist attacks and whose to say the next wave doesn't come from the US of all places.

But you are a clearly an American so obviously you are better than everyone else and the standards you impose on others shouldn't be imposed on you. If you are a typical American, then don't worry I have no intention of visiting FORT USA anytime soon, so you wont have to worry about me bring crime, prostitution or even terrorism with me.

I think you are a complete ass, and am too glad that you hold no position of power because you clearly assume that what applies to others shouldn't apply to you, and that you are better than anyone else. Oh and you are not too sharp either. However, if all goes well, the governorship of Alaska might be opening up and intelligence or rationality clearly aren't requirements so you'd be a shoe-in.

I don't need to be an American to be better than you. I just am Very Happy . You are obviously super ignorant about the whole VWP criteria. You have to meet certain criteria in order to qualify. If you don't meet the criteria, you ain't getting on the program. You don't like it...tough titty, kitty.

Glad to hear that you won't be going to the US. Yay. The US thanks you, I'm sure. My advice to you: Get an education.

I looked at the electronic visa waiver application. It is basically the same as the paper form you fill out on the flight.

What is the big deal?

Maybe immigration needs more time to check out your credentials or maybe they just want to expedite the whole process through pre-screening visitors. The lines at SFO are usually long!
Relax. If you dont have a criminal record you will be fine.

They aren't worried about the "Europeans" in Europe. The 9/11 plot was hatched in Germany, and the next one will prolly come from the UK or similar. Europe made some decisions that will strongly and negatively affect her future. The visa waver should be the least of her worries.
