Is it possible the gender imbalance may cause women's status to rise? I believe that is in the process of happening in Korea, although it's also part of modernisation, globalisation, etc.

Depends. In Korea, women are bought in from "lower" countries so the women may or may not be respected as much as a Korean counterpart. Maybe the status of Korean women will rise but at the expense of other women?

It's interesting how these things can color your perspective of things. I saw a woman in Busan with 3 kids, two older girls and a baby boy. I wondered to myself if she would have had the other two if the first child had been a boy. It doesn't take murder to drive the imbalance. I call it "One and Done." Have the golden boy and never bother having any other children. To each their own and I can't judge them for it but I wonder how different the birthrate and gender ratio would be like in Korea if there wasn't such a preference...

They should reverse tradition so that women command a high bride price. That way having girls would be a financial investment.

What about parents receiving gov't financial incentives when female offspring reach adulthood (eg. at marriage or on entering university/college)?

Two questions:

1. Is homosexuality legal in India?

2. How can I invest in a chain of brothels?

At least as of one month ago, it would appear the answer is no.

Quote:
The government will not scrap a law that treats homosexuality as a crime, putting to rest a debate between the Home and Health ministries on whether homosexuality should be legalised in India.

On Friday, the Centre will oppose a petition filed by gay rights activists in the Delhi High Court seeking decriminalisation of homosexual acts between consenting adults.

Well if that's the case, I really need an answer to my second question:

From the sounds of it, in India prostitution and brothels are illegal but generally tolerated. Sort of like in Korea, I'd imagine.
