|
|
I bought my current pair in Jeonju about six years ago.
They've worn me well, and the leather's still good, but the soles are kaput.
Is there still a store in Jeonju? Anyone up there know?
Or, does anyone in Gwangju (Jeollanamdo) know if we can get them around here?
(Yes, I'm considering using a credit card to order some, but would rather avoid the carbon footprint.) |

Huh, according to their website, there are no Doc Martens retailers in South Korea. That can't be right. |

Yeah, from membory there's a store there out back of Hongdae somewhere, right? Have you seen it recently? (It's been years since I've been past it. Things change quick 'round here, huh?!)
(It's a bit friggin expensive, but that's how it goes in 'out country' huh?! I guess it's equivalent to getting them imported individually...) |

I think I saw Docs in Itaewon--never down here in the dirty south, though. |

If I remember correctly, there is a Doc Martens store in the mall connected to Yongsan station. I'm sorry that I can't give you any directions or anything more to go on than that, but I do know that there was a store there this past summer (the last time I was in that mall)

Hey, you could probably get your old pair re-soled, though, if the leather's still good, as you say...there's loads of cheap cobblers around. |

Hmmm...
That's an interesting concept you propose there, Mr Lurgalurga!
I wonder if any other good person around this locale has experience of getting this sort of thing done?
I wonder as to what it would cost, and the time it would take, and the quality of the job...
Definately something to look into. Thanks for the idea! |

There are Doc Martens stores all over Seoul. The one in Hongdae is still there, but I don't know why anyone would pay fashion-item prices for leather boots.
I've got a pair of Get-a-Grips that are in desperate need of some stitchwork. You can find those little cobbler shacks everywhere. |

There's a Doc's store in the Hyundai Department store at Sinchon Station on the basement level.
Also, ABC marts have them. Try Yongsan, Myeongdong, and Sinchon.
All of these places are Seoul. Maybe you could find them in Gwuanju? |

Just went to the one in Hongdae on friday, it still exists, its on the cross road behind the Luxury Norae Bang. Also the soles on Dr Martens are not under guarantee there is a sticker on the soles that says so. so you may be better off going to a shoe repair place rather than directly to DM |

Rowdie beat me to it. They definitely sell them at ABC Mart and have a fairly big selection. ABC Marts are in almost all of the shopping complex (COEX, Star City, IPark Mall, Myeondong, Kangnam, etc...)places around Seoul. I know that doesn't help your situation where you are, but I have seen them in all of the ABC Marts that I have been to here.
My gf bought me a pair of DM Kyles for Xmas last year .

Do the Doc Martens stores here even sell steel-toed boots? |

Thanks for the help here everyone!
That was great with locating the store sites online via ABC shoes esetters21.
I'd seen the selection in the ABC Mart in Yongsan and found they didn't have the style I want. But, maybe I can find it without leaving town now, 'cos it looks like the store in the south-west of 'our country' has moved from Jeonju down to Gwangju. ... Suits me!
... No, I don't remember seeing any genuine, 100% real punk steel-toe capped ones RaceTraitor, but I'll keep my eyes skinned for some for you.
But yeah, I'll try getting these sewn up first. Definately a good plan. No, I don't want to pay fashion-shoe prices all over again. And this pair have sentimental value - they've gotten me through nearly seven-years-worth of wear - including hiking around the streets of about three countries, riding in the rain, and the eventual motorcycle accident.
I wonder if I could get them repaired at a DMs store, even if they're not under guarantee there... Probably heaps more expensive, if they even do them there. But then again they may have exact fitting soles and better servicing... Any information or ideas on this?
Anyway, thanks again to yous all. |
