This is not related to hwp. I avoid it like the plague. But I bought my HP notebook in Korea, and set it up in English...

(that's awesome that now you set your own brand new HP computer up at home and it asks you Korean or English? and it's an authorized version! I remember buying computers in Yongsan and having some bootleg English version installed every time.)

anyway, when I get emails in Hangul they are just garbled symbols. Is there a download that will fix this? I tried to install a windows Global blah blah blah but it said it cannot be installed on my computer.
Also, my keyboard only types English and that's fine. But if I could switch back and forth it would be a nice convenience. But I just mainly want to be able to read emails in Korean.

Any ideas?

For emails:

In Explorer, got to the view menu. Under encoding, select either Korean or Unicode -- one of them should work...

To type in Korean:

In the start menu go to the control panel. In the Clock, Language, and Region options, select the change keyboard option. Select that an install Korean (Microsoft) IME. When it's installed, make sure that it's at the top of the list.

Got the first part figured out.. haven't tried the keyboard yet. will play with that. Is the D. from the old Edae & Hongdae Beaver's Wings? If so, you know ,me... Is there one still around?

a problem that I'm having is that while I am using skype, hangul is being displayed sideways....anyone else have this problem???

I bought an HP notebook with English Vista, and when I tried to install the Korean language pack, it told me that I needed Vista Professional, not the Home version the computer came with. Vista sucks - I miss XP.
