I talked to my recruiters/handlers about it today.

Anyways, we agreed that when (if, I should say) I get enough video that we're going to have a meeting with the kid, the principal and the parents. I agreed not to take it to the police, who I know aren't going to do anything with it anyway.

I explained that my main goal here is to teach the kid a valuable lesson about stealing. That, to me, will make the loss of the 100,000 Won worth it.

I highly doubt I'm going to get fired for teaching a kid a lesson.

You're not going to get any more video because your coteacher has obviously told the kid. Unless the kid is an uncontrollable kleptomaniac he isn't going to steal again now that he knows he's being filmed.

He might search out the camera if he's really brave haha. Then you'd be raging mad and you'd have no proof and your school still wouldn't do anything.

I think you've lost this one. You should smack the kid round the head whenever the coteacher isn't looking Wink It's the only vengeance you'll get.

You could try asking your co-teacher to leave her purse/wallet full of money on the desk through lunchtime since the kid is obviously not a thief. It should be perfectly safe.

Arguably, you aren't filming a minor. Your camera is set up to record an empty room that should remain empty. If someone happens to step into that room and does something illegal...well, you just happened to catch it on camera.

Burn him. I hope you manage to burn your co-teacher, too. Is it possible to make her look bad? She's doing the wrong thing. I know that people will feel that you should keep the relationship with your co-workers healthy, but she's totally disrespecting you and treating you like a gimp.

As Moosehead suggested, today when I showed the video to my co-teacher she got angry at ME, not at the kid. She told me she doesn't like the idea of me setting him up. I have a feeling she's not going to be much help on this. I think if I get any more video on it, I'm not going to tell her about it...I'll just take it to the principal and get someone else to translate. My feeling from her was that she wants nothing to do with it.

Today when the kid was in class, I saw her hugging him like he was her son or something. Almost like he was a victim.

As I mentioned before, this is her favourite kid and I think she is having trouble accepting the idea that he might be a thief.

I wonder if the school is going to tell me to stop recording in order to protect the kid. I wouldn't be surprised. They don't seem to be too interested in teaching this kid (and others) that stealing is wrong. Isn't that what school is for...to teach the kids morals and how to behave properly?

I'd go apeshit on my co-teacher if that happened. If she loves this kid so much then why is she helping to foster delinquency in him? I would just tell her that I'm going to the principal's office ASAP and that there's a very good chance she'd have a new co-teacher soon.

I like my co-teacher though.

With the exception of this issue, I have nothing but good things to say about her.

I'm disappointed in her and her reaction to this, but I'm not really interested in burning her or making her life miserable.

That would be a bit tough. If it were me I would have jumped right over her head and taken it to the school disciplinary teacher as soon as I had the video.

That was really stupid, I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the morning loudspeaker announcements that you're filming to catch a thief. Wrong or right Koreans will always help Koreans, especially to not loose face to a weggie. Korea fighting! Laughing
