Been thinking about doing that myself lately. Recently got into yet another argument with the miss, and during those times she always seems to bring up random crap completely unrelated to the situation. From this, I have clearly learned she is very bias. She seems to believe that all English teachers and American soldiers go to Itaewon and pick up hooker-like girlfriends. Maybe she thinks just because I don't fit into either category being neither a teacher or soldier, that she can get away by telling me things like that (and implying that I am like those kind of people) - For that alone, I am deeply offended not because I am a teacher and/or GI but because I am a foreigner who is aware of the bad image that we receive here, and a person who tries to maintain a good self image at all times. For someone who has spent a year studying in America, who is fluent in English and seems pretty worldly wise, she sure is overly anti teacher/GI. Have you ever been in a situation where you are completely shocked by the views of someone you thought you knew?

Just pour yourself another drink, no problem.

By the way, does she look like the chick in the avatar? If so, I'd cut her a bit of slack, but not too much. One iota should be enough. You be the judge. Wink

She might seem worldly wise but she still has Hermit blood in her. We like to think that their experiences abroad and English ability might liberalize their thinking but they have had many years of being told "x" and "y" by parents, elders, the media, etc.

Back on topic... I had a girlfriend a few years back who became two-faced like that too. She would listen to hip-hop, eat Caribbean food and talk with black people but just talk badly about "black" culture when around non-blacks. I was astonished like you probably are now.

I broke it off with some friends---not girlfriends, though---over stuff like that. Seemed pretty worldly, too, having spent years studying and travelling abroad throughout Asia, North America, and Europe, but went overboard with anti-Japan, anti-US, and ultimately antiforeign stuff. One person, one boyfriend, won't counteract years of education and indoctrination. Don't be afraid to be selective, and don't be afraid to dump her.

I've been told a few times that I am a head strong and sometimes have extreme opinion, but I have no apology and I get along wonderfully with families, friends, co-workers...etc
What else I need more ???

I haven't ever had to "dump" a partner for such attitudes, but I have purposefully NOT gotten too involved with a few.

I had a Korean 'friend' who was also a former co-worker and my ex-gf's good friend. She had been studying in Australia for a year, and had been in Sydney for a few months when I was heading back home for summer. I invited her to my parent's place to celebrate Christmas with my family and a week later invited her to my folk's place to watch the fireworks on New Year's Eve.

We met a couple of times more during my trip back home and I met a few of her friends in Sydney. Then I went back to Korea and she came back a few months later. Despite all the goodwill and friendship I showed her back home in Australia, she let slip with a derogatory comment about me she thought I wouldn't understand on our first meeting since returning to Korea. My ex was there at the time though just let out a nervous giggle. I let it slip though kept it in my memory bank and was quite pissed but played it cool.

Fast forward a few months, I see her and her new bf, as she's doing the introductions, she whispers a derogatory comment about me into her bf's ear. After that, I wanted nothing to do with her and not much to do with my ex after I relayed the situation and she just made excuses for her behavior. I told my folks about this and needless to say they're not entirely keen on inviting her to their place if she ever goes back to Australia. Wink
